So heres the deal. New to me 08 Nytro base with 3400 miles I got for an absolutely smoking deal knowing i was going to spend a little gettin her classy again.

4th ride on groomed trails I go off the boundary a whisker and bury it. Shut sled off, dig out, go to start sled... nada. Hike out, get 2000 Formula Z, and solo tow the Nytro out. Relay, battery and cables I installed new the day after purchase so this led me to starter.

Fast forward to today. I installed new starter (holy hannah what a job, forklift and every tool I had at my work to get this job done). While I had airbox off checked it out, found mouse nest and a little oil. Cleaned filter, box, and cleaned filter material with air compressor.

Assembled box, reinstalled, reassembled steering shaft etc,. Went to start sled, started right up, then died.

Now here is where the story gets WEIRD!

I tried to start it again, gave it some throttle and it stayed running just fine. Satisfies enough, i shut her down and low and behold it didn't turn off. It seemed to me the engine was rotating at a super low rpm and the clutch was just spinning and spinning. I ended up having to disconnect the negative to kill it.

After that I started it again, it will start but wont stay running.

I know I am missing something easy here... the guy I bought it from had been having some starting issues, this is my first post and I know there is enough knowledge to help me figure this out!

Was the old starter burnt? I had a RX 1 that the starter relay was fubar and the starter kept spinning once the engine was running until it cooked itself. It sounds like your starter stuck and kept turning the engine maybe?????

Sounds like that is the issue now that you mention it. But it has a new starter relay, I can try switching it again. But as of now I cannot get it to stay running... starts then quits but no codes...

Totally stumped and heading to the dealer tonight... but anymore insight would be good. Wondering if I have a short somewhere.
