Talk about well groomed trails!

Great pics MM, thanks for sharing. ;)!

We have been riding theses trails for years and they always look like that , we also make it up twice a year with the Grizzlys , miles of Quad trails

Man, you trails look to be in better shape than many of our interstate highways! Might just have to head north of the border some year and hook up with some of my northern friends from TY.

Enjoy your trails!

beautiful pics...but that last one is something rare to see...I'm assuming that is a cougar....how the heck id you even get that...they're not really easy to come upon are they?

The cat is a Lynx , we seen 10 of them on our trip , he was rabbit hunting

I have never seen one in the wild in my life and you get to see 10!
Very cool ;)!

lots of moose also over near Shining Tree , by the time I got stopped they were gone ito the bush , I guess the Lynx are more tame as they are not to be hunted , they acted as if we were not even there

Muskoka Man - I would be lying if i told you the pics you posted did not wet the appetite.

I have never been riding in that part of ontario. So, in your opinion if you were looking for a 'base camp' to do 200 to 250km loops from everyday, for 3-4 day getaway would you recommend Gowganda as the place to spring from every morning?

It seems like it is in the hub of the network of trails up there.
I would love to hear your opinion after riding to all the destinations.

Were the loops you rode decent length for a day ride?
Were you doubling back lots on the same trails to get home?

Looking to plan something, and have no point of reference having not been up there.
Thanks
MS

It is a awsome place to stay and do loops from , been going there for years on the sleds and bikes , we did 300 ks every day , planned our routes everyday as not to double back to much , they just got 20 cms and -20 since we left and there out grooming , check out their site and web cam on Gowganda Lake Lodge , pics speak for themselfs and the lodge is a gas station , LCBO, groocery store , eveything you need is just outside your door including the trail

Thanks for getting back to me.

One last question.:

I have had the map out looking at some of the places you rode to. Can you give ma an example of a loop(s) you ran and the distance of that loop(s).

If you were putting in 300k days, you werent fooling around. Up early and out the door, back just before dark i pressume?

Spatially, I am trying to get a sense of how far you would stray from Gowanda.

Thanks again.

Take care.
MS

Look at 107 east >A>108>Kirland lake and back home
107>C> Gogama > Tata Pika Restaurant and back
136 > 106 >162>108 > Kirkland lake
107 > C south > Sportsman Lodge and back
All routes are 275 to 350 Ks , we start around 9am and back at 530 , all above routes have gas and food , some of the remote places only take cash no cards , the groomer is parked outside your door basicly so you know which way to go in the mornings , once you ride the area , you will be back

awesome, looks like you had a blast,as usual, snow is very good this year,we also saw some lynx when out to gogama cpl weeks ago, they are everywhere,at my camp we see them all the time,i'm looking at all that snow and am stuck recuperating from my surgery,i might be able to ride this weekend,if it doesnt rain too much

Yes we had a great run Pat , we did catch stump in the re-route out past 3 bears on our way to Tata -Pika , borrowed a sledge hammer and bent the A arms back on the Doo , poor markers back there , I heard you guys just got another blast , hope you heal fast and get out on those rockin trails before the fat lady sings :yam:
