Great site guys, could use a little help. I'm thinking of buying a GPS (Garmin nuvi 500) for my sled as this one seems to be compatable w/ snowmobiles and cold weather and can also work in the truck for paved roads. Its fairly new but seems to be the way to go. Wondering if anyone has used this one and also how to mount to sled. Heard Ram Mount is the way to go but there are different type of ram mounts and I don't know if I should mount to handle bars or to housing behind windshield?? Would prefer handle bars but want it down low behind windshield and not in front of speedometer.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Garmin Rino 530 on a RAM mount. I have the mount that attaches to the handlebars. Takes a little trial and error to get it perfect, as there is an infinite number of ways to position the mount, but I like the way it looks on the bars better than under the windscreen. I have it on the left side so I can change screens or find my buddies on the lake fishing while driving SLOW (everyone with a rino can update their position on the GPS screen, awesome feature. We actually found a guy with a broken down sled that was out of cell range once, he was happy!).

I also just remove the entire mount and place it on my ATV for the summer. Saves buying 2 seperate mounts. RAM is high quaility.
