The screen on my guage on the dash of my 2005 RX-1 ER is fogging up. Any ideas why and what I need to do to stop it?

Chris

Had the same problem with my 03 RX-1. The boot where to wire harness enters the pod was not all the way on. Once I installed it correctly, I had no more fogging. Hope that helps.

Gauge fogging

You'd think the assemblers at Yamaha would be sure to get this right after the problem in previous years. Hopefully the dealers check this out before delivery of the sled.

You're right !!! You WOULD think that in the 3rd year of production they could get it right. Maybe it's too much of a pain to get their little hands up in there and push the seal on all the way !!!!

One nice thing about the skidoos is they give ya a new speedo with 0 miles on it, my buddy has over 3k on his 04 800ho and has 0 miles on speedo, now not that this is the right thing to do at resale but I guess he will get more at that time, but his sleds are always immaculately maintained. His 01 polski 800 looked showroom new with 7600 miles when he traded for the doo.

I had that problem this weekend. But mine was more then fog. I seen it right after it happened, it got a large amount of water that got in it and then quickly froze to the lense. I hope when it dries out it dont leave a big water mark. I will check that wiring seal tomorrow. ===SRXSRULE===

I had the same problem. Dealer dried it out, re-attached boot, still had problem. He said once summer is here it will dry out and next season it will be fine, wrong. My idea that I would try, dry it out, then put a small amount of caulk on the boot.

Does anybody know how to get the guage off the dash so I can make sure the rubber boot is installed correctly? I know there is a screw holding it down from the back, but boy it looks hard to get at. Can't get a screw driver on it. And then if I do get it off, I hope I don't drop it into the void of the hood.

To get at the pod you have to remove the lite faring, windshield ,etc.so that you can get at those screws.
I've had that problem with 03/rx1---04 warrior.Dealer exchanged both.
Problem is not the boot.I'ts the lens which is a double lens. If you take it all apart and dry it out it will fog up again next cold day.(just like your sealed windows when the seal leaks)
I see this year there is a replacement lens listed.I guess they finaly figured out it is cheeper to replace the lens than the whole pod.Saw the part #listed on this site earlier ,can't find it now.Believe me --it's the lens not the boot.
I noticed my 05 has a larger boot which is fastened at the back. It's the lens seal.
