Just got back from a ride with my friend. He has a 06 apex rtx with ulmer clutch kit,pc111,1.25" track with 144 studs(180lb. rider). I have an 08 nytro with hauck x weights(not nearly dialed in) 23/39 gearing, ultra q muffler,cr10ek plugs, 1.25" track w/144 studs(140 lb rider). The diffrence between us I would say is he doesn't even know about ty and is not mechanically inclined. He buys and pays to have work done etc.
We came upon a nice straight away over a 1/2-3/4 mile straight away groomed trail and I had to see what that thing had cause by riding it felt way faster. I was probably crusing about 55-60 we hammered on it and i yanked him by about a ski length and it stayed that way til well over 100mph. he was not catching.
Now heres the weird thing. I stopped and said lets go from the dig and see how your(new) track hooks up. My front limiter is pulled all the way up for better steering and mind you I am geared up two teeth on top..so from a dead stop he would get me by about a sled length and stay that way til he let off...but from 60-70 on I would yank him by a ski and hold it til 111 or
so..do you guys think he gets me down low cause of the gearing and limiter? also, I have my weights empy heel and mid...over revs but perfect on topthe reason I havn't put weight in the heel and mid is becuase i haven't got the screws to fit with the right weight...anyway just thought i'd share my ride tonight. Oh and my solenoid is bad so i'm jumping my sled with a pare of pliers haha he thought that was funny..

It's probbaly both... Next time let your limiter out. Or it also depends on where you have your transfer blocks set at.... If you don't pass him after that, then I would say it's in the gearing... You have to see how is rear skid is setup comapred to yours. The 40lb advantage is defintely helping you. Switch sleds next time and see what happens..

I agree, the weight is def. helping :) I think if i can get my weights dialed in and put more force on the belt down low (add weight heel-mid) it may work better out of the hole.. but i'll also have to get more traction so for the 100th time i'll have to play with my suspension. I think i'll stick with the gearing because I prob wouldn't be running where i am on top without ya know?

My son's Nytro is dialed in and we run the same out of the hole but I pull him with my Apex about 700 feet and continue to pull away. He weighs 140 and I weigh 215lbs. Both clutched and geared, he has the Bender exhaust. Even when they were both stock, same result. Love the Nytro but the Apex still pulls, and if we are running side by side and punch it at the same time the Apex is still stronger and runs about 112 to 115 on the GPS. Nytro at 101.
Both sleds rule!!!!!

A 22 gear is working about perfect on my 180 turbo kit from ulmer. Same top end as the 23. You are way overgeared.

The reason I went with this gearing is because when it was bone stock with maybe 800 miles on it it would only run 104-105...geared it up and gained 6-7 extra mph on top..thats the reason why i haven't bothered to change it back..all stock just changed the gears out and seen that improvment..and I had a test buddy to run against and I still had the same low end as stock.

On an ice road my 08 121 would run 106 mph GPS (110-111) speedo all day, with stock 21 gear, leaving 1/8" or less of marker on the top of the primary. Put the turbo on and I'm seeing 119 speedo with a 23 top gear and thats leaving 3/8" of marker on the top of the primary. With the 22 top gear i'm still seeing 119 speedo and have about 3/16" of marker on the top of the clutch. This was on ice also.. I'm still messing with the sled trying to get a couple more mph out of it. These speeds the sled is setup for trail riding, no suspension mods.

I marked my primary and its about 3/16" from the top with the 23 top gear..does this mean i'm using it all??

Ya pretty much. With that gearing and the belt running up that high you should be seeing 120 mph+ on the speedo in perfect conditions. If not something strange is going on. Possibly the secondary spring is to weak letting it go to the bottom of the secondary to easily? I'm not a clutching guru but post up exactly what you have and what the rpm's exactly do and maybe TURK would chime in here.

Anyone try overdriving a Nytro? I'm thinking about doing it to gain a few MPHs on top.

You should go down to a 22 gear and try it, you might not give up as much on the bottom and mid and still have the same top end.
