After a fuel stop and a drive across the street to a restaurant, when putting sled in reverse I noticed that I had no back up alarm, after further investigation also noticed the dash pod was dead and so was my taillight.

Took a look at the fuses and found the taillight 20A fuse was burnt. Replaced it and all was well.

Had unplugged the heated shield cord at the extension instead of at the handlebar and put it over the handlebars on to the dash, it did not stay there I guess and caused the short.

Heated shield is connected at the plug and play location by the chaincase bottom.

If you disconnect your cord leaving the male end exposed it will short on anything metal - tunnel, bars, etc. Take the male end off leaving female plug on sled.

Was wondering where it was

I had left the female end exposed but must have touched some metal just right. There isn't much rubber covering the female end either.

Just an FYI in case someone else looses back up alarm, pod functions and taillight.

Hey at least you had a fuse, most don't carry one,but should. Hey was you out on any of the maine trails lately,we must of lost a ton,by now.

I was but that was before the heat wave. There will be plenty of good riding left after the warm and rain of this week. Snow for Wednesday and Thursday and then colddddd coming in for a while after that up country.

It won't be the county for me next weekend but either Millinocket or the Forks. They are both far enough north to get the snow for the 2 days mentioned! Heck looked at Parlin pond lodge today, those trails look fast.

I really enjoy this time of year with the cold mornings, when the trails are icy and fast in the morning and then soften up allowing for great handling around corners because the sleds slides around a bit.. I have not given up but many do.
Hard to believe that there is some riding a couple of hours away when your at home and it's 50, but it is there without the crowds.

Yes the county and all of their trails were great. Put on almost 500 in 2 days. Stayed in Presque Isle and rode and did some great loops of our favorite trails. The Madawaska / Grand Isle roller coaster trail was a blast, and that Van Buren trail, wow wow wow. I could go on about all the loops but we ended with Easton trails, no one rides those and they are always freshly groomed. We met 3 groomers on Saturdays loop coming towards us, how do you beat that, pull over and let them pass and fresh trails ahead. Stopped in at Gary Yamaha, John is a straight shooter about these Sidewinders. Just good people in that region huh! You know... As you can tell I get excited about that area.

Oh, extra fuses in top of fuse cover from factory.

Good to know. I was going to look into it, but forgot. Headed up to Millinocket next Sunday then gonna navigate whole County during week.

Good for you. Colder weather forecasted for Thursday night on, in fact - numbers for Friday and Saturday night, but it will warm to 25 on Sunday and 10 Sunday night in Presque Isle. Should be good to go with Thursday snow instead of rain up there. Fingers crossed!!

Yes,i have bought quite a few sleds from John,at Gary,s,like stated great guys up there,my sled is still in parts at my friends place, who is working on it,we did finally swap motor out of wrecked tunnel and into new one,and now have bulkhead on and left side A arms all connected with spindle and ski,no shocks yet still waiting on a friend who is waiting on Fox for parts, hopefully by 2nd week in march,i may be able to hit it for a while.

Sounds like you have your hands full with all it takes to strip down, repair and put back together. And with the Go Fast parts you are putting on it, that makes the waiting worse, just knowing it will really rock once put together.

Hope you can do some testing this season! I wish you the best.
