Chain is self adjusting (tensioning). Just out of curiosity, what would lead you to believe that it needs adjusted?

On start up when it is cold after sitting a few days for a few seconds I hear a small rattle which I assumed was a chain rattle. I am not too concerned just wanted to know as preventative maintenance.
Might be valve noise...

Clutch rattle, exhaust clamp rattle, any other things, loose rivets etc. I can't see the timing chain being the cause of it. If it is hard starting or running ruff, maybe a valve lash adjustment. But to cause a rattle..hmmm. I would look everywhere else first before I turned to internals. Regular oil changes and proper filters these babies are pretty much bulletproof.

exhaust done last season with copper donuts and there is no sound of exhaust leak and believe me I know that sound. Clutch rattle hmmm perhaps I will have to look into it further. I have a squeaking but I smoke my belt a couple of times this season so I am not concerned. The sled runs perfect always hitting 110MPH plus on any trail condition so really I am not too concerned was just planning ahead things to do before putting sled away for next season. Going for a 3 day saddle bag trip should be good sled has been running the best it ever has this season 19300km's and counting.

Exhaust heat shield. As long as your positive that nothing has come loose. Gas and go, Ride on...

you may hear the valves more if they are needing reajustement (valve clearance)
manual says to check them at 40 000km
