2006 Apex GT with Yamaha skis, but they might not be stock as the previous owner added some touches of blue on the sled (ski handles, skid plate, rear flap). It has what I thought might be the part number - DS016c - J1 but I'm not finding anything on line.

My goal is to figure out which dooly's to buy. Maybe I'm over-complicating it?

Maybe you are...I say measure the length of the runner, as well as the distance between each bolt. Then compare it with measurements on Bergstromskegs.com. I know there are some diagrams that you can cross reference it to.

can you post a picture?

Looks an Apex ski to me. Woodys dooly 6" is dy6 6580

as I am shopping for Doolys for my '12 Apex, the dy6 6580 is the part number for that year Apex.

In 2011 or 2012 they changed the stock ski, and I thought that Woody's part number changed. They are the same on the Woody's site.

The ski in the photo above is the older style ski, but uses the same part number. You should be gold. Let me know if you find a good deal on those carbides!

So far, Amazon will sell them for $62.50 each shipped with Amazon prime. That's better than anyone on Ebay!! HA!

Good luck!

I actually ordered them from amazon but then cancelled because I'm reading up and debating bergstroms instead. I'm a little concerned with pushing through corners, seems more dangerous than darting.

Those are Yamaha saddless skis, I have a pair of 6" Bergstroms triple points with less than 100 miles on them that I would sell if your interested.

DO NOT waste your money on Bergstrom Tripple Points. They don't help one damn bit on the stock Yamaha skis.

Get these & you'll be happier than a fart in the fog. http://www.johnmaster.net/Double_Down_R ... rd6808.htm

A friend of mine got his wife a Vector just like mine/my wifes. We set it up the exact same as ours, minus one key ingredient..... The previous owner had just put brand new Tripple Points on it. We rode with them one day & she (buds wife) was complaining how her sled was darting & pushing. I swapped with her & her sled was awefull. Just as she said, darted, pushed one time, grabbed the next.

She didn't want her sled back & wanted to stay on my Vector. She couldn't believe how ours went where you wanted it to go, not where the sled felt like going.

I have 10" on my Apex. It might be overkill, but I like to stay planted. AND, they wear outstanding. The 8" on our Vector have just over 3k on them, & the carbide is still sharp.

Everyone has his/her own preference, but when it comes to the stock Yamaha skis, the problem lies in the too shallow of keel.

The skis themselves don't have enough bite to track straight or grab in turns.

The key is to get a dual runner that's aggressive enough in width & depth to bite. The SnoStuds Doubledowns are 2" wide & will not clog up with ice/snow like other brands.

They are also sold in pairs, not individual like others.

I'm not a rep or salesperson for them, I just know they work great & won't use anything else.

I could be wrong but those Double Down's look similar to Slim Jim's.

My cat friends have Doolies and Slim Jims, and they have 0 dart and easy steering effort (on an F1000 which is similar in weight to my 2006 Apex RTX). I would have tried Slim Jim's but last time I needed carbides my dealer only had Shapers. With shims under the rubber blocks the Shapers don't dart too badly, but they definitely dart.

I have tried all brands of carbides, the only ones I haven't tried are Snow trackers, and the only ones we run are the Bergstrom triple points on my daughters 06 RTX, the wifes 13 Apex and my 07 RTX. (IMO) all with stock Yamaha skis.
