Had the day off, made a homemade sled dolly as I was tired of the ones I have purchased down through the years not working real well. Made from couple of 2X10 pcs of wood I had left over from my ramp project and left over sled dollys and casters. Mounted all three dollys under ski cross section and 3 offset casters in the rear. Spread out and weight distributed better they all work much better. Drive on drive off ease and rolls around the garage and driveway awesome. No lifting any more! Loading my sled to truck now with no driveway spin !I roll the dolly right up to my truck ramp, strap together, start sled drive from dolly on to ramp and in the truck. should of done this years ago... lol

Looks awsome, great job. I would love to do something like that because I hate those little dollies. But the little dollies are easier to store when not in use. I don't keep my sleds in the shop unless they are getting worked on.

I have something like that. We call it the bullet because when you drive off of it it shot down the street about a city block. So be careful when you drive off of that thing ;)!

I was thinking the same thing.

I made the a set out of some 1/2" stock that was being scrapped from a machine at work. Also got some large casters that were being tossed out. The sli guides were made out of some left over composite decking from a projets a few years ago. After they were my first attempt to use them proved to me what a failure they were. My EZ mover would not lift the sled hi enough to get the movers under the skis or the track. I then thought I could put the sled on these movers if coming off the lift. This also proved futiles as the ski guides are so slippery that the slightest disturbance to the casters when rolling stops the movers and the skis slides right off the mover. I got a small pair of quick clamps and clamped the skis to the movers to stop this. Kind of a pain to use but the sled sure moves easy when it is on them. I got a goos laugh from the whole thing. They do look nice.

I add a strap to the front( 6 or 8 ft long)and string out so that when you drive off the track hits the strap and the dolly doesn't fly out ;)!

Loaded and unloaded my sled in my truck with ease from dolly straight up to the ramp. hooked together and just drove right off dolly up ramp and into my truck. ( never spun on the driveway) Little tricky unloading, to get the skis in the right spot. The dolly works great on and off straight to driveway. I added a wheely bar piece of 2x4 on the end of the dolly to stop the front from raising when I drive the sled on. here is an updated pic

Actually Terry, i'd like the plans for the truck ramp. Me & John are thinking of leaving them in trucks all winter.

I love the drive on, drive off nature of your dollies.

Unfortunately I can't really use your set up, as I don't want to have to ride in my garage, and I wouldn't be able to wheel a sled on dollies from my driveway into the garage.

I still might have to rig something up though.

This is my dolly system

I could rig something up, though, so that my sli dollies are anchored to the floor at the entrance of the garage, and that would allow me to drive on to it.

Either way, you've got a great idea there.

NFLD, I don't pull in the garage as my pics and carbides tear up my floor. I do it in the driveway and just roll into the garage. Looks like you could just use a board and tie yours together and it would also work good. ;)!

yep, I could tie mine together pretty easily, but I wouldn't be able to roll my sled in from outside, as my garage is higher than my driveway, and my driveway is not paved.

Picked up and old srx/viper track pulled the pcs of track off the ramp now I have 1 peice of ;)! track lenght of the ramp. put 2 pcs off the old ramp and put on the dolly, small improvement but hope its better. I will try and get some up dated pics soon
