No questions here about GPS, just looking for some pictures and/or descriptions of how you have mounted your GPS units on your sled.

I have a Garmin Quest with a Marine Mount systems. I was thinking of mounting it so that the unit sits just above the speedo. However, it will obstruct some use of the windshield bag.

How about some other innovative ideas............

:-o

Brucethebaldguy seems to have a nice set up. I am going to work on my this week. I will take some pics and give the install walk through. Removing the guage and dash will prbbly be the most difficult part. I can hard wire direct to the battery with the mount I have. It has an inline fuse and is meant to be hard wired, unlike the Etrex Legend that is featured in the line you posted.

:D

Here is the mount location I thought of, any thoughts?

Neophil, very nice job! Yes there will be some obstruction to the windshield bag, but I can still access it from one side. To be honest, I only carry my camera and some TP in there, maybe a pack of gum, so no big deal. I was thinking of mounting it next to the speedo on the left, but like you mentioned, the horizontal layout doesnt allow for it. I dis-assembled the entire shroud tonight, need to go to Home Depot tomorrow and get some proper bolts for it. I will red-locktite them on installation. I think its going to work out ok. The holes I am drilling will be behind the speedo, so if I ever sell the sled and remove the mount it will be unnoticable.

Maybe its because I'm getting old but I want the GPS where I can read it when traveling. Way down on the dash is just to far for these poor old eyes.

I mounted mine with a Ram Mount from http://www.prairie.mb.ca/

No way would I try to read the GPS while I am riding the sled. Screen is way to small, I would end up hitting a tree!! LOL, If I had the streetpilot maybe, and I would mount it like neophil did, that is a trick set up!

It all depends what I want to read on mine. I like to leave mine set to show speed so I can have a few laughs at the difference between it and the speedometer all day long. When I do that I can set it to display in LARGE numbers, almost as big as the Speedo. If I need to figure out where I am, I stop.

some of my gps photos..

here you go
