How well do the Pilot skis work on the Phazer?

I am looking at a pair of pilot skiis and was wondering if anyone can tell me how they work on a phazer? I find the stockers hard to initiate a turn.

I'm almost decided on the Slydog Powder hounds for my VL. They have good reviews on here and are supposed to be good in the deep stuff as well. They also come in almost every colour combo you can imagine. The curve XS also look good and have excellent ratings here but I cannot justify paying $725 Canadian (wow) for a set of skis and carbides delivered to me. I have no experience with skis other than the stock ones and just about every here says that any aftermarket ski is an improvement. Some people also go with better runners and ski savers setup, on their stock skis and find a good improvement as well.
