got a offer for a new seat off 06 montain apex will it fit the vector and tail light is always the problem with the yam seats I told the owner we can use a led custom tail light I wanted to use the long track seat for the neat trunk in the back I can have my choice of 06 or 07 seats 425.00 to door step. the sled is heat red and montain seat is black with darker red strip I think you guys think it would look ok?

I put an '06 Apex mtn seat on my Vector. You do realize that you need to cut the fuel tank shroud right? There is plenty of good info on this site about doing this mod. You will also need to use the tailight and harness plugs from your Vector. There is a recent post elsewhere on the forum stating that the Apex tailight won't fit the Vector due to the exhaust difference. Another thing you should know is that the Apex mountain seat DOES NOT have the tailight harness inside the seat as the tailight is back on the tunnel extension. You will need to get a harness and you won't be able to pull the harness out of the Vector seat. It is taped to the seat frame inside the seat. I made my own harness but it is quite a job fishing it through the seat like it is on a trail sled. I did it with a coat hanger and a lot of patience before the plug got soldered on but you could just run the harness under the seat taped to the top of the tunnel. There is a slot in the right side of the trunk where the harness is supposed to clip in. The mod is well worth the effort though. Much better seating position for rough riding. Looks great too. I'd suggest you raise the bars and move them forward to complete the seating position upgrade. Good luck with the swap. Let us know if you need help.
The 121" Apex seat does not have a trunk??? I did not know that. That mountain seat trunk is huge and is worth the uprade all in itself!

fyi use a speedo cable to rout the wire, i tride the wire and lost my patiance.then a buddy suggested a speedo cable, went through like butter. Are you sure they all dont have trunks, i am sure they do

Try the Nytro seat. Everything is there, and it's a stiffer grade foam, no fishing of wires, no soldering. You just need to cut the tank cover. If it's red you want then die the stripe. You can sell your '05 seat for at least $150, I would think???, to re-coup some $$$.

Thanks Brian! Yeah I sold my Vector seat for 200.00 to a guy that had a blue RX1 with a torn seat. Worked out well.
When I bought my seat I did not know about the missing harness on the mountain sleds but I worked it out. The Nytro and Apex seats have different design side inserts but fit the sled the same.
