put simply, get a pair. if your running w/ few (or no) wheels, and long tracks...
there basically all the same.
there is a different design thats been out the last couple years. Slidekicks or some such. They are suppose to be "reverse safe" and just a different setup, but do the same thing.
there is a version of the more traditional style that can use carbide inserts into the ends, thus replacing a cheap carbide tip instead of the whole scratcher if/when it wears.

i think ski scratchers are the way to go on the Nytro. The exchanger is up front as is the bulk of the slide wear. Mounting them on the skid is only going to help your buddy behind you. On the poos with the big exchanger at the back, the rails were ideal, but the Nytro's are prime candidates for ski scratchers. I have the marginal wheel kit on my shorty, but if slide wear still proves to be an issue, I'll be getting ski scratchers as well.
A set like this would be handy, but how many times do you reverse with your scratchers down anyway.

we use the tna gear ice scratchers, they are super heavy duty. they also come in colors other than black, if you are so inclined. ski

i have scratchers that mount to the bottom of the running boards, mounted them pretty much as far forward as i can. I am very happy with them. i picked them up at my local dealership, don't recall the brand name right now.

While using ski mounted sctatchers...To me it looks like there is a big chance of hooking them on something. Anyone have any opinions on that? I do alot of U.P. forest boonedocking(ie. running over small trees and large snow covered log at times is unavoidable) and it seems like this could happen

you'll only do it once, and it will cost you a set of scratchers. and maybe more, whatever it hooks and bends. i havent did it (yet) but i have heard about the dreaded back up with the scratchers down. not pretty. ski

I custom made mine, ran them on my '05 RX1 for 12.000kms and when I traded it in for my '08 APEX I kept them and now have another 6500kms and still going strong...not sure how they'd work on a NYTRO but I'm sure you could make them fit, I've got to find someone to make me some CAD dwgs...here are a few pics.

Its not an issue. i make my own ski mount scratchers and have ran them for 4 years out west in the mountains and its never been an issue. I leave them down all day because there are days when we jump on and off the trail many times. Eric

I had them on my summit. Worked really well. I remember one day putting it into reverse and at the last second I remembered that my scatchers were down. It's just something that you get use to once you've had them on for a while. But the first few rides, I came close to bending them cause I wasn't use to them.
This is going to be one of the first things I install on my XTX.

I have these on my nytro. They drive me nuts, you feel everything in your feet.

actually ya i would have to agree with that, i do feel more sometimes, but it doesn't annoy me at all and i normally don't even notice it. And they saved my sliders.
