Never thot this would ever happen but it did.

Spent all of yesterday running around collecting construction and space heaters and installing them into homes of people that I know. Was supposed to go on a ride to help a charity. :o| :o| :o|
Last I heard there are no heaters of any sort available within 30 miles of us.

Right from the time of the break they will have been working 24 hrs. a day to get the line repaired and get the gas flowing.
They have emergency lists of all the contractors and their equipment near and far. Even out west some TC people would likely be on standby and have their people and equipment organized if required.
I worked for TransCanada for 35 years.

Thanks for helping / serving those you are and can. I hope the fuel is flowing again soon

Directly for them or a Company installing pipelines?

My father worked pipeline for likely as many years, if not more?
Been all over this country, mainly Ontario but out West was also quite common.

I know he still misses it, retired now, but I think it will be in his blood forever.

Good Luck Steiner, hope things get repaired quickly for you. ;)!

We are staying warm. Have three construction heaters wired throughout the house now and the furnace fan on high. The house is maintianing a comfortble temp.
The biggest issues are my cooktop, dryer, fireplace floorheat and of course the furnace are all gas appliances. My wife is getting creative with the meal prep. Even my BBQ is gas. :o|
Went that route because we do have power failures here but never gas failures. :o|
Power company is working hard to keep the grid from overloading and so far they are doing a good job.
Lastest report is that gas service may start coming back online as early as Monday night.
My kids hope it will not for atleast another week or so as this gas failure has closed the schools for now.
Many of the businesses in town are also closed as to keep what ever little available heat they have in their buildings to avoid major freeze damage.
Strong winds from the North did not help matters today.
Dang Polar Vortex!!!!

We have been asked to cut back on gas usage all the way down the Red River valley due to the explosion and shortage of Natural Gas.

It sounds like they must have it fixed, or alternate gas sources coming in now, as they have lifted the suggested restrictions in our region around Fargo.

Good luck to those without gas up there!

Read this am .

United States impacted
The affected lines also provide the main supply of natural gas to more than 100,000 Xcel Energy customers in the U.S. as well.

Gas customers in eastern North Dakota, northwestern Minnesota and western Wisconsin have also been impacted by the explosion but are not without service.

Xcel Energy has asked residential and business customers in those areas to conserve natural gas by turning their thermostats down and avoiding using natural gas appliances.

Xcel Energy currently is receiving natural gas supply to serve customers in Fargo and Grand Forks in North Dakota; East Grand Forks, Moorhead and Brainerd in Minnesota; and communities in west-central Wisconsin, including the Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls and Menomonie areas, from alternate routes from Michigan and from the Twin Cities area.

Lastest press release is that by today they should have a temp fix and by Tuesday full service should be restored to all homes affected.
Sure am glad that we never lost electricity!

This morning at 7am we had gas service restored.
Took about 6 hours to get all the buildings in town to full working order. Spent my morning running around making sure my family and friends had their systems working properly and removing all the temp heaters and extra wiring.

All went well except for my parents house. The intake/exhaust fan motor had siezed. Now to find a replacement for this off brand furnace unit. :o|

Good to have normal heat again.

Quite a few years ago (maybe 20) the pipeline exploded a few miles from here. Huge fireball! Can't remember how long it took to get it fixed! Day or so!

Bad time of year both then and now! I was thankful that I had a wood stove in the basement.
