Well, I hadn't planned on doing so quite this soon, but I'll be joining you guys and gals as an RX-1 owner. Aaron was kind enough to point out a good deal over on Snowest.

She's ridable as is, my M7 skid should be here this week to get her better. I'll run down to Boise and pick it up next week. I'll probably run it largely "as is" this season, over the summer I'll probably dump the MPI exhaust in favor of the undertunnel glasspack, do the rider forward, lightweight battery, new seat, etc.

Thanks for everyone's help and info so far.

BTW, anyone have somewhere I can crash tonight....gotta go break the news to the wife.

Bri

Brian......you are the man!

#1 You can crash at my house anytime you're in the doghouse. I'm only 15 minutes from all the snow anyone can handle, and I guarantee you'll forget all your problems up there.

#2 Congrats on the new ride! I honestly don't think you could of found a better deal anywhere. Not with all those extras on it. Looking at those rail extension I think you could pull off the 153" rails on the new M7 skid. I'll tear the check up! Buy it, ride it, and let the fun begin! Looking forward to posting with ya!

Aaron

P.S. You might get lucky and be able to use those drop-downbrackets with the M7. Might be able to redrill and do some cutting.

Actually, the telling the wife part went fine...only thing is she now has laid claim on my old sled (Mountain Max). At least we have a new rider in the community, gotta make sure she enjoys it the first times out. She had fun playing in the field by the house, we got another foot last night. She played on the sled, I plowed...

Everyone, and Aaron especially, thanks for the advice on the RX and mods. Done got hooked now.

You got a great deal and it is set up fairly well. If you need help w/the AC skid let me know. I am only 15 mins away. I also have a CAD template at a local shop so they can cut out a new dropdown bracket for the new AC skid w/their H2O saw. I can show you what mine looks like if you are interested.

Clean looking sled....and with goodies included! We missed out on that one. The sled we picked up in Boise last week came up from Elko Nevada. Not as good a dea as your's, but bad either.

Why wait till next year to rip into it? You'll miss some good riding leaving it stock-like. If you have parts lined up it need not take that long to mod.

Jonny, I might just take you up on that drop bracket. Do you have any idea if the MPI brackets (on this one) are in the right place to mount the M7? If not, could I get a copy of your database, or a pic of yours? I have a cad station as well, and a buddy with a CNC, if I have some made, I may mess around with "pocketing" them like the MPIs, there is a shop right near work that can annodize them blue for me. Might have to do the rails when I get the 153's.

Kachess, I may jump right in. I want to get a couple rides as is, just to appreciate how much nicer it is with "your" mods. I'm thinking the glasspack may come sooner rather than later, from what I understand the MPI exhaust is obnoxiously loud, besides it looks much better without those exhaust covers. I guess once I'm in that deep I might as well rider forward it...

Thanks again everyone.

Just what I need, another addiction. I thought rifles were bad... Some of us are just meant to be broke. :) broke and happy though.

Congratulations and welcome Brian!

I have the actual metal template (an extra) of the rear suspension mount plates Jonny had made. I used it to make two of my own.

Nice sled! It's nice to see you got one of the fast ones (Blue). :tg:

I'm sure we'll be getting together.

Any time. I have a cardboard template at my house. Frosty has my aluminum template that the shop cut out. I do not have the electronic copy of the CAD design. The shop that made the template has it.
I did use the MPI brackets as a template to make the one I am using. The MPI brackets will not work w/the M7 skid.

Here is a pic of my brackets.

Thanks guys. Jonny, your brackets look great. I'll go with a set from your water jetter if it's ok. Can you give me a contact? I'll buy a couple sets and give you one for the effort, the design time is where all the work is at. Water jetting can be amazingly affordable too, far better than CNC.

Did you get them cut in Spokane?

Brian

I believe it was Precision H2O in the Spokane Valley. I will give them a call tomorrow and see how much they will make a set for. I don't know if they will make a set for someone else for my name is attached to this design.
The more we can make the less it will be so if you know anyone who needs a set let me know.
I believe their minimum charge is $50. That is what they charged me to creat the design and cut 3 templates. But I had the aluminum already.
Anyway, I will let you know what they say.

Here is another pic w/the brackets installed.

Another cheap, very strong and looks stock solution is 1/4" alum w/1/4" offset bend in it if you have friends at a machine shop. Low cost, looks great and strong!
