Hi,
I just purchased an 2005 RX1-ER with 820 miles on it for $6000. Before buying it I talked with my friend that owns one that he bought last year. He put 1700 miles on it, loves it, but had the problems with the cracked rails and such that this forum is talking about. I guess the dealer fixed it under warranty for him...
The sled I bought has no signs of cracks yet around the wheels on the rails. However, I am worried it will happen at some point in the future.
Will the dealer fix this now if I call them up and take it in? Is it an official fix yamaha is having the dealers do under warranty to prevent problems? OR am I SOL until this breaks out of warranty this season and I will have to spend huge $$$ to fix?
Please advise...
Anyone know of any dealers in or around Rochester NY that are doing this repair (the 05 suspension update with 06 parts)?
Thanks!

Talk to a dealer, don't tell them if the rails are or are not cracked (ie, be smart about what you say). If he won't change out the rails without them already being cracked, then do what you gotta do to make sure they're cracked before the warranty expires. How you do this is up to you
