Limiter strap made of 10,000# polyester webbing vs stock?

I think it will work but the weak point will be the holes and it might not last as long as stock. They always sew this stuff around something rather than adding holes because the weave will be in compression (not tension) around one side of the hole. Even if the holes are burnt they will probably elongate over time but for the money give it a try.

From what I could find, polyester strapping is good to around -50 C. Recommended in extreme outdoor conditions for holding down cargo....should work fine ;)!

Yes, I thought about the holes as well, could have my upholstry friend do some reinforcement sewing around the holes...i dont think the washers will clamp hard enough to kep the hole from elongating...

I agree with the seat belt and searing to make the holes then install grommets into the holes and using large washers to boot with a nyloc stainless steel nut, bolt and washers.

I've sewn all kinds of webbing. Including Scuba Diver Weight Belt webbing. The OEM Yamaha is some pretty tough stuff. I wouldn't bother with trying to fabricate a new one..I'd just find a new OEM one.

Thanks for the info. I am beginning to feel you are right...if i have to run around and get them sewn and dink around hoping and checking them it is just easier to buy the OEM ones. Don't want to take a trip and have them go out right away.

Although a near by Artic Cat dealer said Yami parts are expensive to me recently. Ha. Maybe the strap will be big bucks. :)

Partzilla has the best prices that I have found. OEM Straps are about $18.50 each compared to about $40 at the local #$%&* dealer...
