local dealer drops yamaha

I went to the Toronto Powersports show a few weeks back and couldn't even find a Yamaha ball cap for sale anywhere. I mentioned it to the guys at the Yamaha corporate booth who had apparel hanging all over the place (but not for sale) and they said that they can't sell anything because it would hurt the dealers.....who weren't there. You could buy all kinds of Arctic Cat or Ski-Doo apparel though. I must admit that the best looking custom sleds were all Yamahas!

Just went down to my local yammi dealer--only to find out they dropped them!! They said Yamaha was cuting all there orders by 1/3--sled and bikes-- and they wouldn't even ship them there pre-orders. All they have now is honda and suzuki--no sleds. They used to give some smoking deals on accesories too

What kind of policy is it NOT to ship pre-ordered sleds? You are just asking for a decline in sales when you don't even want to ship the ones that are already sold... :moon:

my dealer had a great talk with his rep and came out with that there is a new sled coming out and they want to clear out all the left over sleds out of the pipe line

Dealers still have nos that they are trying to get rid of so it maybe a combination of dealer / manufacture cut back. I have seen alot of guys back out of spring orders and the dealers get stuck with which is the ripple effect.

Said dealer is now going out of buisness at month end

They can always raise prices!

already happening on certain models - my dealer gets a call everyday for 09 xtx's from other dealers, that means a shortage is happening and that will cause the price to become firm if not go up.
