Hi,
I just bought a used 07 Apex RTX . It has rail extensions to 144", a 1-3/4" track , dropped 2 gear sizes on the top and an Ulmer Stage 2 clutch kit. Other than that it's basically stock.
When I was looking the sled over I noticed the jack shaft bearing was gone. I mean gone all together. The sled only has 1390 miles on it. Thats what the odometer says anyway. The guy knocked a bunch off the price so I took a chance that that was the only thing wrong. I bought a good used jackshaft, new bearings for each side, and I'm putting the RTX top gear back in. It was dropped one tooth from a stock Apex right?
My question is does this seem like a freak thing or did I fall for a switch out the odometer scam? The guy seemed solid when we met, and has agreed to go good for anything else I find wrong.
Thanks for looking

Almost 10,000 miles on both my sleds with original jackshaft bearings, but I do pull the seal and grease em once or twice a year. Upper jackshaft bearing should last at least 4-5,000 miles, they are not exposed to the elements like the drive bearing

That's what I have read on here. That is what seems a little odd to me. Other than the bearing gone the sled looks like a 1390 mile sled.

Thats very low mileage for the jackshaft bearing to be gone. Usually the driveshaft bearing goes first. is it in ok condition?? I wonder if that bearing simply came from the factory dry for some reason?? I have seen brand new bearings with no grease in them before so this is a possibility. I can't think of any other reason that a jackshaft bearing would be gone so early... They usually last for at least 3000 miles even if you never grease em... If you grease em every year you should get 10,000 miles on them...

My sled has 13K miles on it still looks brand new. I wouldn't think that just changing the display pod would change the miles. Its probably in the ecm. If its in the ecm, it might have the sled vin info on it. Call the dealer they would be able to tell you if that true or not.
