Just some free word about mountain sled progress
After all gossip of the last days I was waiting for a weight miracle from AC Proclimb sleds but ... there is only one that could do miracles
looking at official numbers from the swedish brochure
AC F1100 Turbo SP 549 lbs
AC F1100 Aspir. SP 527 lbs
The AC Turbo system weight is 22 lbs
AC M1100 Turbo SP 162" 562 lbs
AC M1100 Aspir. SP 162" 540 lbs *not existing 162", just subtracted 22 lbs from the turbo
Nytro '08 manual (153") says 553 lbs
Read on Snowest a guy weight his mtx 162" '10 dry out-of-the-box and it was 560 lbs
So aspirated 162 against aspirated 162 are 20 lbs of difference
Better than nothing but not a big revolution and far from the 60/70 lbs we spoked some days ago
Also the 2 smoke are not a weight revolution
M800 is 474 ... close to SkiDoo and little more than Polaris
Interesting is the difference btw the same frame ...
M1100T 562lbs/177hp = 3,2 lbs/hp
M800 474 lbs / 160 hp = 3,0 lbs/hp *shorter track
Could means that if you want just go straight up on the hill they are pretty the same ... but not in the trees.
Nytro 162" 560 lbs / 130 hp = 4,3 lbs/hp
My Nytro 162" 497 lbs / 220 hp = 2,2 lbs/hp
The big difference is the price
AC M1100 Aspir. SP 153" 11.200
Nytro 153" 12.500
But the Cat probably comes with decent rear susp. and good track.
Other difference could be in handling and reliability ... waiting for field answer.

But if you compare both new with boost,
Nytro 162 +boost= $14500
M1100 Turbo 162= $14200
Seems pretty close to me! Both offer a warranty, both are 180 hp +/- and wet weight should have the Nytro(7.4gal) under the Cat (10.6gal). Cant wait to see what the field answer is!

Yes ... I think that our 'old & piggy' Nytro could challange ...

If Yamaha will put the aftermarket rear skid as stock the Nytro Turbo could be at same level

The Maverik seems to be gone so hope the new one will be better.
The 300$ more are for the reliability

Nytro would only be 14500 if you snow checked one correct? other wise you are talking 5-6g and then add the weight of the boost to the nytro.
My 08 nytro if i remember was 10,500 new. New rear suspension 2300, new shocks up front 650 if i were to add boost 5000.00 minimum, and the new track of course 500.00+
Makes my sled cost 19,000
I would much rather have a sled that has factory installed turbo.
that being said i will still be riding my nytro next winter.

You are right ... not considering special offers the current price is high
nytro 162 12900
turbo/sc opt 4000
light skid 930
Total 17830 against 14200
The weight is pretty close because you add the weight of turbo but loose something with skid so the lbs/hp ratio could be really close
... no big differences in performance but big difference in price ...

My insider tells me if you want to install the turbo/supercharger yourself the the cost of the boosted Nytro will be $13500. And they're pretty simple to install.

You buy an aftermarket turbo/sc for 5k
Yamaha sell the same for 4k as dealer opt
For spring order Yamaha sell them for 1,6k
Pretty sure that dealer wants gain something from the 5/8 hrs needed for the installation ... So i think you can have a great deal with the hardware but you have to pay the right price for the dealer job.
Imho
P.S. Did you asked royalties to Arctic for the graphic of the white sleds?

Plus with the rear mount, the weight is close to a wash. Remove the muffler and add the turbo.. I thought thats how MCX advertised it..

It would be great if it was the MCX 180 kit for 1500
I like the fact of factory installed boost because i would think the factory would have all the checks and balances in place incase of a failure??

One BIG plus of Cat's Turbo is that the EFI works with the Turbo ... you just turn the key and ride at sea level or in the mountain WITHOUT you need to set nothing
On my sled I've the same way with the MPI Standalone EFI but i payed 5k for the SC + 1,5k for the EFI system + 0,5k for the bypass/accessories and I installed by myself
After 1 year of fantastic SC riding I'll never buy a sled without boost AND integrated EFI
The Yamaha boost offer is with the piggyback controller so you need to set your sled if ride conditions changes too much.
So, also from that point of view the tech could be the same but with big difference in the price

And another question is ...
how Proclimb can be so 'cheap' giving best stock features?
Mountain sled are essential as definition so it's not easy to tear down something not usefull to low the cost.
And lightweight materials are not cheaper than heavier ones.
only 3 answer comes to my mind at the moment
1 - More efficient production
2 - Less profit (hoping in bigger numbers)
3 - Less quality
