If I ran 15 pounds of bost on 91 pump gas with meth injection on a stock motor on a nytro xtx all winter on a trail sled averaging 2000 miles would this be reliable. What is everyones thoughts. Im thinks of doing this with a powder lites kit. If this can be done it would be one wicked fast trail and lake sled.

I bought skydogs sled at the end of last year and i have to share my experience of my first real test ride up in St-Raymond Quebec. The first day i brought it home it think it was April 12th the sled was mixed with with race gas. I tested it the next day, we had very slushy snow and the temp was about 8C. Since it was my second time riding a turbo sled the power to me was still unbeleivable and i could not look at the the gauges it was point and shoot. The following weekend we found snow in in St-Raymond and i had 1/4 tank of mixed race gas then i added about 2 gallons of race gas and top it off with 93 octane so i think i was pretty close to 50/50. The temp that day was warm i would say 11 to 13C which converts to 51 to 55F. The A/F gauge showed 0 when i started the sled that day and scared me so i took it easy, just short blasts on the trail. just after noon hour we cam up to a gas station in the sticks and i top up the tank with 91 octance, the sled had about 1/2 tank left. I might have gotten bad gas i'm not to sure but as the day went on i got more used to the sleds power and the temp was falling and it was starting to get dark. the trails were starting to firm up ( crusty ) from the grainy snow earlier. (I guess its a good way to describe the snow conditions) The temp was about 0C or 32F and i knew the trails because we were on our way back and if i got on to her real hard out of a corner ( Wide Open ) the knock box would go off and at night it was really easy to see. ( I did not see it during the day ) Coming out of the corner if i just gradually got on the trottle and eased it into thte boost to full throttle the light would not go off.
I have been reading everyones post all summer to get my self up to speed in the turbo world and would really like to test in cold temps and with fresh 93 octane to really give some feed back. I'm really thinking about taking the sled to Hurricane just so he can fine tune it and make sure the meth injection is working properly and dyno it also. I do think it is working right because it went through about a full tank of meth to 1 and 1/2 tanks of gas. Now it could have been the gas from Quebec because i don't trust the little stations. Could have been the temps. Or too much boost i did see the boost gauge go over 15lbs. It could be the trails which are wide and long straights or i heat soaked the motor. Just sharing my experinces i will report back when the coolers temps are here.

What kind of knock box do you use? I tried a Parker Bros and for me, I was able to set the sensitivity so that it could pick up noise inside the engine. If I turned the sensitivity down,it wouldn't pick up the detonation. Im glad to see that your looking at it but I wonder if you were actually seeing it go off due to detonation or was it picking up the cumbustion noise as the power came on.
Just a thought

Its the Parker Knock box. It could be too sensitive, i have read posts where guys thought it was too sensitive. I read the instructions and to set it they say to run the sled at idle and ajust the sensitivity until the light goes off then back it off a notch. Now i don't want to ajust it any higher yet just incase it is deto. Question - the only way to find out if it was deto would be to look at the piston tops?

A quick check will to read the plugs looking for specs, however, thats almost after the fact. I had a conversation with One Stop Jim about that .The first sign of detonation comes just above the upper ring on the piston.Hard to see that, assembled.
If you meth is tuned properly, your pistons will stay shinny new looking with alittle soot in the center and your header will not turn red from the heat. If your header starts to get red hot,add more meth

Sometime in October Dave if you have time i would like to bring my sled to you so you can go over the sled for me and get it on the dyno, I want to have a piece of mind this winter. I want her perfect running 15lbs on pump gas. If thats ok

When we get on the dyno,we will tune for a nice smooth hp curve. You can see detonation on the hp curve. We can then see the results of the meth in a controlled environment. At the end,you will have a much greater confidence in Meth Injection.

BenderSRX - let us now how it turns out after the visit on the dyno. I have a bender stage 2 like you . and I am very interested in your results.
