im wondering how reliable that phazer motor will be.i have a couple of friends with yfz 450's and 250's and they need maintenance fairly often. now if that motor is based on those bike motors, hopefully it'll be more reliable.

I was told by some reps that this engine has been in the works for about 4 years now. They said that the testing has been impressive and had little problems in the development.

Of all the proto's runnin around they havent had any problems other than fuel mapping but no internal problems yet.

Its not like yamaha to put out a engine that isnt up to their standards. If you look to their past i cant think of a sled engine that wasnt the most relaible out of the big four for their time, performance or general riding.

The 700 triple was an outstanding engine, the srx was unbeatable for speed and reliability, the 600 twins went on and on and on. Then you add the four stokes they are putting out now and it doesnt give me any reason to doubt the debut of this engine. I look forward to riding and putting many many miles on it, even when i boost it.

I've had a yfz since they came out, and run it alot, I don't beat on it, but I do ride it. I've never touched anything on the motor. Simple oil change, keep the filter clean, and otherwise (knock on wood) nothing done to it. I know with Mods they can decrease integrity, but otherwise it is a good motor.

ive never doubted yamaha with their motors, i have a warrior with 7000 miles and i didnt spend one dime on it yet besides sliders and runners. i snowchecked a phazer gt and im hoping it will be as good of a snowmobile as my others were. when i saw my buddy blow is motor on is yfz i got concered but i guess those things happen. p.s its snowing as i am writting this.
