If you don't already know for those flatlanders buying
the mountain machines there is a sea level kit that has
to be installed consisting of a 19t gear & steel outer weights
and guess what you have to pay for it! but if you ride above
3000 ft your ok. Price is approx $50 Canadian and its on
backorder...... whats new..... :o| :o|

Pay for it? :drink: ahhhhhhh No you don't. My dealer installed it for free. He told Me its Yamaha's low altitude kit and Yamaha takes care of it. Unless something is different in Canada I would look into it further. Maybe someone else on here from Canada can answer this for you. ;)!

I got my low altitude kit free! The factory set-up is for 3000 fts so you need a kit for the sled to perform its best at sea level

So what is this all about anyway. This is the first I have heard anything about it.

Just what it sounds like. mountain sleds leave the factory set up with high altitude clutching and Yamaha supply's dealers at lower altitudes with the kits (if the dealer orders them). All the kit basically consists of is a 19 tooth gear. The outer rivots should be easy to come up with. Here is another TY Phazer post on the subject. www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=32348 ... ht=gearing
