MTX 2008 VS 2009 REAR SUSPENSION

In my search for a rear shock better suited for me I learned that there was an upgrade on the 2009 MTX. Oh well I guess it gives me another option to choose from.

2008 MTX
Rear Shocks Gas Cell Hydraulic
Rear Travel 14" (356mm)


2009 MTX
Rear Shocks Dual 40mm, Aluminum Piggyback HPG, 12.5mm Rod w/Compression Damping Force Adjusters
Rear Travel 14" (356 mm)

2009 XTX
Rear Shocks Dual 40mm, Aluminum Piggyback HPG w/Compression Damping Force Adjusters
Rear Travel 14.5" (368mm)

The 2009 MTX and XTX are very close to being the same shock. It looks as a 1/2 inch travel is the only difference. I wonder about the valving differences or similarities.

Still an option. I'm trying to get some more info on both before choosing.

I wonder if there are any 2009 MTX owners changing there rear skids. Could be an opportunity to get a good used HPG.
