Just got a call from a friend of mine.. He was up in MI this weekend and his NEW 08 crossfire 1000 broke down.. 3500 miles on it.. and not even a year old..

My friend is a die hard Cat guy.. and has owned 10 cats in the past 10 years..

The dealer told him the warranty was out on the cat (HUH??) and my buddy was told that they would have to send the computer in to have it fixed (YA LOTS OF DOWN TIME)

Needles to say, my buddy was pissed, and told the dealer "what do you have for new sleds?"

They told him they had a new 09 XTX he could test drive.. and my buddy laughed and said i dont want that piece of crap... they asked him if he had rode a 09 and he said no. only a 2008.. they told him to go ride the 09 and see what he thought..

Needless to say, he was blown away.. the bought the sled on the spot and traded in that cat for a yami.. HE LOVES IT.. he said handles as good as his old 2002 ZR 800CC did..

He also told me he raced his buddies 09 Turbo Z1 and took him by 3 lengths (his sled also has no studs, the turbo has 250) and finally the turbo passed him and only beat him by 6 lengths and couldnt pull away on top end..

He gave the guy crap saying , " NOT TOO BAD FOR A 600 HUH..LOL"

He told me, when you ride my sled, you will own one..

Just thought id share the story..

Brian

P.S. his cat buddys and wife wont talk to him right now.... LOL

I had to tow home my friends 2009 E-tec with 2k miles on it this weekend because it had a blown motor.

He has called me 3 times today to tell me how he is done with cat and loves his new XTX..

Ive never seen him so excited about a sled in my whole life..

I test drove the Nytro XTX 144" and a RTX 121" and it was a really great sled. The clutching could use a little tuning for low speed since it seems impossible to go 10-20 mph at a constant speed without the clutch constantly engaging and disengaging. Maybe lowering the engagement rate would help.

The seating position is great and the 144" setup hooked up everywhere, even in the 3-6" of slush from the 45F weather. Great power helps too!

Good for your buddy man but you should tell him next time he races that Z1 Turbo to run a little longer cause it will become a small dot on the horizon. My buddy has one and I can take him till 80mph or so, he said I jump a sled length instantly, but at 80 he goes by like a freight train and it simply doesn't stop pulling. He has seen 120mph and it is still pulling no kidding, Arctic Cat advertises it as the worlds fastest production snowmobile for a reason and I believe it. Once that turbo spools up and it gains traction it is a rocket. I still think my Nytro over achieved since it is about 35hp less and I weigh 100 # more, it is damn fast for a 600, 700, or even a 800 for that matter, definately holds its own, just doesn't hve the top end like that cat.

The guy with the Turbo wont race me with my apex.. He knows i can kill him.. Those turbos have no more top end then an apex in stock form.. and have a hard time hooking up with as many studs as you can get in the track..

He bought the sled at haydays (a new leftover in the box)

If anyone have a suggestion how to get to that setting, I am grateful for the tips, I am a total beginner when it comes to clutching. I love my xtx in the trail but in the powder and at low speeds its to aggresiv.

Others may chime in with more experience with clutching, but I believe you just need to go to a softer spring in the primary for a lower engagement. With a softer primary spring, the clutch will close faster and easier requiring less rpms to engage the belt.

Find the color and spring rate of your current primary spring and try to find one with a lower spring rate. For instance the RX-1 has a Yellow-Silver-Yellow spring with a spring rate of 24.5 N/mm (2.50 kg/mm, 140 lb/in) whereas the RX-1 Mountain has a Orange – Silver – Orange with a spring rate of 31.9 N/mm (3.25 kg/mm, 182 lb/in).

The mountain sled has a stiffer spring and higher rpm engagement. With a lower rpm engagement you also get more engine braking since the clutch stays engaged longer while slowing the engine. With clutching, it's all about trial and error.

I was very impressed with my first 09 XTX ride last winter.

If I had that kind iof disposable income right now, I would buy an 09 nxtx in a heartbeat.'

I do however not compare the fx nytro to a 600. I fully understand the 2 stroke comparison to a 4 stroke, but the nytro should be compared to 700-800 machines at least.

I'm selling my xtx if your interested... I haven't liked it. I wish I had kept my Attak. It has 1900 miles, a tank bag, sadle bags, 2 windshields... I guess I should list it in the classifieds. Make me an offer.
