Reduce ski spring preload 3/8" inch
Increase ski shock comp damp 3 clicks.
Install 4.5 " shaper bars
Pull up limiter strap one hole
Set center shock preload to 4.75" (per owners manual measure)
Set torsion springs to soft
Increase rear shock comp damp 2 to 4 clicks (more for realy big bumps less for small)
96 1.175 (woodys) studs.

Upgrade front arm and link to Yamaha "hero kit"

This set up is realy good for agressive riding (I weigh 162 w/o clothes)

I noticed i can't seem to get the front end to bit at all.
I weight 220 w/o gear.

I have the front shocks rebound and compression set to 6 clicks from soft. I haven't touched the rear at all. Also the darn thing is super tippy. When I lean all my weight in a corner It will still pop up on one ski in an instant. I know this machine is supposed to be great in the twisties but so far I can't keep up with a stock arctic cat sabercat 500. I'm thinking that there is too much weight transfer to pick the front end up(good for jumping, not for turning) as I can keep the ski's up till 50 if jump on it from a stop.

I agree with thetruck454, my FX is super tippy also. I put on simmons skis to widen out the front end, but even leaning out hard on corners the inside ski will pop up instantly (unexpectedly). I'm afraid to let my fiancee ride it. I grew up with an 84 Phazer with a 32" ski stance that felt more stable than the FX. I see the 08's have less front suspension travel, the Gt's being even lower (1.6"). I wonder if Yamaha did this to help the stability.

On my ski's I noticed it looks like you can change the stance of them. They have spacers in them and notches in the ski's. It came in the middle and I'm going to see if thats helps with the tipping.

This tippy-ness scares me some time. Mid corner all things can go well then bam, I'm up on one and going over. I came off riding a saber car so I know what its like to go round a corner on one ski... but this phazer is just plane scary.

I switched my spacers around to as wide as possible when I put on the simmons skis - no noticeable difference. I think it just sits too high.

when you pulled up one hole on the limiter did it keep the ski's down on take off or do you still get some ski lift?

For what it's worth, your results will likely vary, I found that moving forward on the sled when turning really helps with the tippy thing. Once I got used to doing it, I found the Phazer to be easier to ride than my Apex.

Just my 2 Pesos.

This set up has very, very little ski lift , the ride is very good and it carves the corners VERY well (no push) also very little darting.

Try it you WILL love it!

Are you refering to the stock/fabric clicker setting on the shocks, and what is the yamaha "hero kit" ?

Also, I have torsion springs on soft and I have tryed adjusting the rear shock clicker from soft to hard but it stills beat the hell out of me riding agressive on bumpy trails. I think the rebound damping really sucks on my fx.

I found exactly the same thing, I ride it like a bike !
