Later year i purchased a slightly used skid plate from a guy on Ebay.. and he had purchased to bolts etc for it..
I dont have the instructions for it..
I assume you must drill out the 4 rivits on the bottom of the sled to install the inserts..
What size drill bit do you use to drill them out etc..
Thanks
Brian

You are correct.
The Yamaha install kit comes w/ rivnuts. Use a 10mm drill bit. They are hard to find. I use a 25/64th drill bit. It comes out as 9.9mm. A tad bit smaller is better..
Napa sells Rivnuts. Or you can get them from McMaster Carr. Or get the hardware kit from Yamaha.

i miced the inserts and found that a standard drill bit is even better fit. mine installed no problem. i searched everywhere in the town for a metric drill bit and said hell with it. thats why i decided to mic the insert.

I got a used one coming from Ebay this week with no hardware. So what did you end up using to get your job done?

I just installed a skid plate on my 2007 Venture GT last night, using a 25/64 drill bit, which worked perfectly. The factory instructions were emphatic about not drilling in more than 20mm deep. IIRC, the four mounting screws were M6 x 20mm, and used 6mm flat washers. My skidplate also has two mounting holes at the very front of the plate, which used M6 x 25mm screws and the 6mm flat washers.
