Just bought a new leftover 2011 Nytro XTX. Just wondering if there are any weird corks or anything about this sled I need to know? Also, my son and I raced the sleds a little in the field tonight and the Nytro was faster on topend than our 05 RX-1. This really surprised me! Maybe our RX-1 needs a tune up. Any ideas?
Congrats on the new sled. You will truly love it, and as stated the 4 stroke power of the Nytro is just incredible.
First thing I would suggest is purchase new carbides, the stock Yamaha carbides will do you zero favors.
I think as your ride and get use to it you will figure out what you'll want to do.

Thanks for the welcome. What about those new Tuner skis that yamaha has out. They are supposed to be inexpensive and work really well?

Tuner skis are the best inexpensive upgrade you can make to the Nytro. They really do improve it's handling and make it feel planted and stable at higher speeds. I second the recommendation!
My sled didn't come with the tuner skis so I installed a pair of Bergstrom 8" triples along with the ski savers and shim. A riding buddy of mine has the tuner skis on his Nytro and I must say I really don't mind those skis.
Either way - new carbides or Tuner skis will be a much wanted upgraded to your Nytro and you will notice a difference immediatley.
Good luck

Thanks guys. Also what do you guys have to say about this thing pulling my RX-1 ER on top end. I really wasn't expecting that. I'm starting to think maybe my RX-1 isn't running right? It does seem like it sorta falls flat up top power wise. I dunno.

I third the tuner skis. I have an '11 xtx and originally had original skis with stud boy duelies for carbides. Was very hard to turn. When I put on the tuner skis with woody's carbides (the stock yamaha carbides are junk; dealer sold me 6" on the inside and 4" on the outside Woody's single carbides) it felt like I had power steering. Love those tuner skis.
I put on the high windshield with the side wind deflectors. I value warmth over looking "cool." I also put on saddlebags as there's no storage on the nytro.
As to your RX-1 issue, the nytro is a fuel injected 138 hp sled with a 144" track getting good hookup. I don't know for sure, but I think the RX-1 is a 140 hp sled with no fuel injection and an extra cylinder adding more weight. Seems like a nytro should be faster than an RX-1 if those are the hp numbers.

I've also wondered how a Nytro would do beside an RX1? Anyone have any experience with this?
I think the RX1 motor is rated at 145hp which would bring the Nytro pretty close!??

Never actually raced my brothers rx1 but I don't think the nytro gives up to much to it besides top end. According to the speedo his will go faster. Never had mine wide open to see what it will do but have heard from others on here so have a good idea.

never had mine wide open for an extended period for top end either but on short spurts of wot top was 102 mph on dream meter and slower climb after about 80 mph. I'm sure there was a little left but it's already fast. there is other things an xtx can do anyway.poor farmer/logger said:Never actually raced my brothers rx1 but I don't think the nytro gives up to much to it besides top end. 1. Tuner ski's (huge difference in handling)
2. Star suspension XTX kit (made a huge difference in the rear suspension)
3. Vector gauge (if you hate the nytro one)
4. Yamaheater (if you have wimpy hands like me)
All done, sled will be awesome.

I almost forgot. I put on the expensive dupont slides about 3500 miles ago and they're still great. Burned through the first two sets of regular slides much too quickly.

Just bought an '09 RTX with only 347 miles on it, sliders were already worn down to about 1/8th" left in the middle on both of them.
Spent the extra $300ish and put on Excell's 6 wheel kit/ Dupont sliders ($120), we'll see what miles it will get....
Enjoy the ride
