Removed the warning labels off of the stocks today, painted the front hood screen vents red, removed the windshield (I will be putting on a tall windshield with black accents to remove all of the white decaling from this sled). I love the simple black / red color scheme.

That's great!
LOL!! They look really weird without any windshield...
Looks great now without all the white on it, I think. Maybe you should also paint the vents in the sidepanels also?

The side panel vents may pose a problem with painting. The vent fins protrude a bit above the panel and it is a very flexible surface so I am not at all sure if paint will even last very long on them.
I degreased and primed the front vents then painted them.
If Yamaha sold red colored plastic vents that would probably be the way to go!

OK. It still looks good like it is. Now you won't have the same as everyone else...

Does the Vector still have the "light on" function?
I mean where you can turn the lights and instruments on without starting it. On the old Vector you just held the tumb-warmer switch down while turning the ignition on (don't start it), and continue holding the switch down for a few seconds (10 seconds, I think it was). Could you research that for me? It was nice to be able to check how much fuel was left, and how far I had ridden, without having to start it...

See the white sticker on the hood of this GT?
What do you all think about a red sticker like that on the hood of my sled? I think Jordan from ArcticFX could probably replicate that for a reasonable price.
It would add a little more color to the hood to better match the large red stripe on the side of the seat.
Ok, the image isn't working!

That's good they didn't remove the "light on" feature!!! Cool!

Jordan from ArcticFX is sending me a killer red graphics package which will dress up the hood even further. It is the broken stripe pattern found on some of the 2007 models, only in red instead of white.
My sled will have the look of an 1980's muscle sled, back when all of the high hp muscle sleds were black with red decaling.
"Lean, Mean, Black, and Evil" is how the old VMAX 540 was once described by Race & Rally.
Well, my sled isn't exactly "Evil" but I am really digging the custom look I am giving mine.
I should have the package this week, will post more pics once installed!

Looks like a Thundercat? Oh Gawd, please don't say so! LOL!
Actually, with the windshield off it sorta has a Firecat look to it with the slanted eyes and the beak for a hood.

Added some more graphics
Today I added the side panel graphics.
Here is how it looks with the stock windshield. It will look much, much better with a plain windshield without all of the graphics on it. I am going to be picking up a tall, clear windshield in the near future to rid this sled of every single white accent!
Next on the list is some Polaris idler wheels mfg by Kimpex...slightly larger in OD than stock with replacable bearings. They will hopefully provide a great amount of hyfax, idler wheel life. Read enough horror stories about stock Yamaha idler wheels to make me not too concerned about spending another $150 on idler wheels pre-season to replace all 6!
