Got my Attack in the other day and looking for opinions on skiis. Sold my Simmons with the last sled(maybe a mistake). I ride hard packed trails and fire roads and sometime fresh unplowed fire roads with plenty of powder. Anybody tried the SLP powder Pros or others for all around riding. I liked the Simmons for floatation and getting rid of most the darting, but they sure seemed hard to turn when in the twisties on hardpack. Also if I go back to simmons, anybody on this site know a good place to get them?

If you want a set of Simmons, call Matt at The Speed Shop as he has competitive deals. The web site is www.thespeedshop1.com.
I run Simmons and agree they are bit harder to turn. Lots of guys on here use C&A Pros. Single keel design but excellent carving abilities. The Speed Shop sells these skis too. Not many guys on this site run SLP's.
Here is a link to independent ski test done some years ago, but the write up gives you a good idea. www.hardcoresledder.com/images/ski_test/
Lastly, this is what SnowTech had to say two seasons ago.

The "best ski" really depends on the conditions of the day, and we will many times swap skis on a weekly basis to best match a machine's calibration to the type of riding and snow conditions. Generally speaking, we'll use dual-runner skis for better tracking (Simmons and Ski-Doo Precision), SLP SLTs for all-around riding on most any condition, but especially on Yamahas for slot-car precision. We'll switch to Powder Pros on Doo and Arctic Crap mountain sleds, but leave the SLTs on the Yamahas. Polaris models usually get Simmons. The C&A Pro skis work well in loose, or wet, or sloppy snow, and get the call when we really need the best durability.

I have been thinking of trying these. srxspec recommends them.
www.slydogskis.com/products.htm
Not a wealth of info out there on them by any means.
And I learned to take a look at what wearbar (carbide) a ski maker uses.
If it is unique and custom that can be a PITA. Simmons carbides you can find from several different places. The V Track ski (from Recreation Dynamics) I used from the mid 90's to 2000 was a pain to find carbides for. What carbide the slydog uses is my first question before I buy.
C & A is probably the 2nd most popular after market ski used here at TY4S

Slydogs look a little different, how many people have tried them and how do they compare to the Simmons or others?

Yeah we dont know alot about the Slydogs yet.
This thread may help.http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=15949
The fact that srxspec recommends them is strong consideration for me because the guy is hands on nearly 24/7, he works on them all week and races on the weekends. Allen gets us alot of info we cant get anywhere else and never a bum steer yet
Just a very humble $.02 here, so take it with a grain of salt, and it probably runs against popular opinion. Cant beat the simmons for floatation and anti darting plus they corner well. Ran them on Yami trailing arm sleds for 2 years and loved them. But on a 4 stroke last year they felt harder to turn. That was only a problem on a 150 + mile day where you are making thousands of little steering corrections and turns, that is where it got old. That could have been my fault running 6" carbides all around, 4 inchers prolly would have been better.
Now on the Apex/Attak you are going to have another 100(?) lbs on the skis due to rider forward. What is that going to do?

From what I was told the wearbars/carbides on the Slydogs are identical to the C&A.

I had a pair of stockers from a 2003 RX1 that I used for a year, I don't know about last years. They are for sale if anyone is interested(6" carbides), I sold my simmon's with the sled(mistake maybe).

I'm leaning towards the PP's for deep snow floatation, but need to give the OEM's a whirl first.

powder pros are great all around........

Has anybody compared them to the Simmons as a good all around ski?

I had PP's, Simmons, and USI's all on my 04 Rev-Gade. They all steered heavier than the Precisions did. I personally thought that the Simmons were the best pick for the Rev-Gade as far as control, floatation, and limited darting. But......... those Rev-Gades steer heavy and will make a man out of you on a 300 mile day. The new Yammi Chassis is a whole new deal, IMO we will just have to play this one out throughout the season. Not enough documented data available yet. My guess is that none of us yet have ridden the 06' chassis with anything but the OEM Skis thus far.

Hey Bodacious, thanks for replying, how did those powder pros compare to the Simmons (Steering, flotation, darting)?

Hey there Allen have you noticed any loose of top speed with the skydogs skis, the reason i ask is the bottom looks very agressive w/the inverted edge bottom, and which model do you recommend to the average agressive trail rider with an attak lol... like me.
