Getting ready to pull the trigger on a new sled for the girlfriend. The Yamaha dealership is trying to sell me on the factory extended warranty. I do believe in extended warranties offered by the manufacturer. Problem: When I asked about the start period of the ext. warranty, he states "in six months after the new sled warranty expires".
Hold the phone-----six months??????? I had thought that all new Yamaha sleds came with a one year warranty. Any dealers or dealership personel on here can shed some REAL correct information on this subject?

All new sleds come with a 1 year warranty. If you elect to get the YES, then that will start immediately upon the conclusion of your initial new sled warranty. I chose the four year YES on each of my sleds, therefore I essentially have a five year warranty.
Hope this helps,

Thanks Jon, I was told that the YES was available in either 3, 2 or 1 year packages. Something like $489 for the 3-year deal. Does the cost sound in-line?

Yamaha dealers also offer a 4 year YES. Port Yamaha usually sells them for $499.
You should be able to buy your warranty from any dealership, regardless of where you buy your sled.

Thanks guys for all of the info. Here's what I have uncovered about this advertised new sled. Note: The sled was listed on ebay by a Yamaha dealership as a new 09 sled. They carefully left blank the mileage column in the ad. The ad further explains that warranty is available. I email the dealership and salesman replys back "6 month warranty on sled, and YES available at extra cost. NO mention of any prior use or mileage. Salesman says AFTER he explains the price amount------"oh yeah, it has 80 miles on it. The owner rode it once." WTF
That is why the sled only has 6 months of warranty, they sold it (to themselves in order to register the sled legally to ride it) and the warranty has been running on it. Further, Mr. Salesman tells me that a 3-year YES is $588.00 Double WTF Let me give you the bottom line of what this dealership wants for this USED 09 Phazer MTX w/3 year YES------------$ 7300.00 Triple WTF Buyers Beware!!!!!!!
