I saw similar devices for sale, and thought of a cheaper way. Works well. I slid a large size Kong dog toy over my winch cable to keep tension on my winch cable when not in use to keep it from rattling, and it rides approx midway down the cable to hopefully help dampen the cable if it snapped during use.
Total cost: $12.00

I have a extra Kong that my dog came home with. I think I just found a good use for it. Thanks

Good idea, I think I have about a 1/2 dozen of those thigs laying around the house & yard..
