Just wanted to say hello, I am new here as the topic indicates. I just sold my 2009 Ski-doo MXZ and bought a new left over 2009 Nytro FX. I have been a ski-doo man for the last few years, and am excited to give the four stroke Yamahas a try. Do you guys think I made the right choice? I actually picked up the new Yamaha for $100 less than I sold my ski-doo for on Craigslist. I look forward to all the help you guys can give me! Thanks. Kevin :yam:

I just sold my 2007 mach z 1000 and bought a left over 09 xtx. I bought c&a skis because every where I have read said they are horrible. I used to ride yamahas back when they had 0 transfer. Hard as hell to wheelie. I ripped mine across the lawn and just from this short burn it is way different than the old yamahas. To be honest the acceleration on short blips was comparable to the all mighty mach. The turbo will hopefully make it lake worthy. Either way I think you made a great choice . No more buying two stroke oil should have you excited.

LOL! Yes, no more 2 stroke oil to add before every ride. How do you get all that info about were you live and such on your aviator? I can't put anything into my profile yet. Do I have to have a certain number of posts? Thanks.

Word of warning, don't expect the Nytro to rail around the corners like your MXZ, your Nytro will feel more tippy.

You'll also have to get used the engine braking when letting off the throttle, ease up slowly...plus, you'll save your brake pads at the same time. I forsee tinkering with your suspension is in your future, as will be the quest to improve ski performance, either replacing them or carbide options.

Problems you might encounter are cold hands and high slider wear. There are different fixes for this.

Take a look at the "FX Nytro FAQ" in the Nytro section. A number of great topics to get you started.

And welcome to TY.

no no no all 4 strokes are junk and yamahas are garbage. You screwed up!!! err wait I thought I was on dootalk. From my 04 mxz x 800 to my 09 rtx, I thought I would be needign more power. Its real close for all out pull but the throttle response and torque of the 4 stroke is awsome. Very fun sled to ride. Is it the fastest? no.is it the funnest sled I've ever owned?Yes. I thought the adding oil think was kind of trivial to begin with but that too is awsome. and you don't smell like you been cuttin wood all day when you go for a bite to eat.

Ask anyone the owns a good diesel truck and they will tell you horsepower sells but torque wins the race. made a fool of many hemis with my diesel truck. I love the powerband on my xtx it lurks everywhere in the throttle.

Hey neighbor!!!!!!

You'll find the Yamaha Nytro to be a very relieable sled. I have 5300 miles on my Nytro and not so much as a hic-up. I'm on my second belt only because the first one was getting old.....but no blown belts. Still on my original set of rear torsion springs. This sled is awsome!!!!

I bought mine from Sunnyside....where did you buy yours?? Matt and Eric are great guys to work with.....they'll hook you up.

One major thing you wanna do to the Nytro is buy a set of C&A Razors (btw Sunnyside has the cheapest prices on C&A's around). Next is to toe out your skis 1/2" (1/4" each ski) Trust me.... you do that and you'll do great.

I also had a ski-doo for a long time (since 02) until i bought my 09 nytro. Like everyone has said, it will feel alot more tippy at first, it takes a while to get her dialled in the way you like it. it took a few hundred miles before I felt comfortable on it. I bought c&a razors first thing and it made a huge difference, turns a little hard while moving slow but is a huge improvement I thought.
I tightened up my limiter strap one hole which also helped alot, I recommend that as well, two holes might be even better but I thought one hole was enough for me. A trail tank is not a bad idea if you plan on putting on alot of miles...having to worry about running out of gas just takes the fun out of riding in my opinion. Spending the money and never having to "baby" the sled to the pump was the best money I ever spent. I'll let my buddy on his f6 worry about fuel instead.

If your hands get cold easily I would recommend the big dumbo ear hand guards...they really do a good job keeping my hands warm. Or just get rocks "yamaheater" kit and take care of the problem for good.

These are some of the things I did to make the sled more enjoyable for myself... but no matter what you do I think you'll love it. I have totally fallen in love with electric start...

Hello to you too! I bought mine there too. Those guys are great I agree. I ride with Matt sometimes and he is my man there. I was buying stuff from him even when I had my doo, and he was the best price around on anything he could get me. He suggested the piolet skis...which I always liked on my doo. What do you think between them and C& As? Kevin

I can't comment on Pilot skis, thought about getting them though. But I've used C&A Razors for so long that I don't really wanna change. Yeah I spend more on C&A skis, but I know how they perform on my sled. Plus I already have my sled dialed in using my Razors.

I'm always riding through Attica on my way to Byrncliff for wings. If you need any info that'll help you out, feel free to contact me.

Cool, I really appreciate it. I stop at Byrncliff often, and have ridden to Leroy on occasion. Thanks again, and take care. Kevin
