Hi guys,

last weekend I went to the Yamaha dealer to see the new Mountain 162 SE

... WOW ... still heavy but very impressive, specially in black

the only thing I can't love is price ... 23600 us dollars (sure they apply a discount but still painful price).

So friday I'll go back to the dealer to buy a sled and I can choose between:

- MTX 162 SE at 23600 us$ to keep pretty stock
- Brand New RTX SE 2009 at 18600 us$

In the second case I've money to upgrade the sled in this way:

- Mt Tamer
- 162 rails
- 8" 2 wheel kit
- antiratchet drives
- track (not sure which one, I need to read more)
- Barkbuster 39'
- Sway bar good bye
- Ulmer Racing Turbo kit stage 2
- Clutching set-up (this is my big fear)
- light weight battery, handlebar, left throttle, minor stuff
- Some graphics
- Some work with the gearing?

I'm considering the second option but your suggestions are wellcome ;)!

Buy the MTX, ride fairly stock for one season, save your money to buy the things that will improve on the areas where it lacks. All the 2010's have anti ratchet drives FYI. Yamaha did alot of work on the MTX to improve its performance in the mountain class.

why not buy it here and ship it...we can get new ones for less than half that!!!

and with the exchange against the dollar, the shipping would be almost free -

If you want to buy one here in Canada, I'd be happy to help you get it shipped over. Just have the dealer leave it in the crate ... add some plywood around the outside ... and stuff it on the boat. You can buy alot of bling and toys for the difference in price. I'd be checking into the math if I was in your shoes ......

Definitely --- call dealers here in the US and order one and have it shipped!

would suggest buying from the states. as the sleds in canada are WAY more than here in the states...last I heard canadians were paying 16,000 for a MTX SE...

if your serious, let me know...would be happy to help as well...

yes, I was thinking to buy directly in U.S. ... but I would have to solve some problems with the registration of the sled to obtain the number plate ...

Italy is a very beautifull country but each things that is simply and obvious in the world ... here it is a problem to be solved :o|

Ulmers turbo kit comes with the clutching you need. He will ask some questions about your riding elevation, your riding weight with gear on... so dont fret the little stuff. If you are going to hold off on the turbo for a bit - i personally think Hartman makes a good product - but again lots of threads already going around. Yes Yes Yes on the crappy Maverick track that comes with it - if you do nothing else for this riding season changing your track is probably the best mod to start with.

I was lucky - i picked up a 08 Nytro MTX that RevDog setup already with most of what you are looking to do. TS skid, IceAge rails, Camo Extr track, BarkBuster front with Fox shocks, TS front and back bumpers, lightweight battery, pingel tether, Full Excell Exhaust with header and pipe with plastic. I added the OFT relocator and billet wheels, with Tuff Boards, Hartmans clutch setup and a 10 gal trail tank on the way. Ulmers state2 turbo is on my Christmas list... even though all that weight was removed in upgrades.... i still need to compensate for my fat a** going up the mtn.

price

I paid $8900 in new england for a 09 mtx 153.$20000 for one is nutz..
