I would not be scared of the whining on some of these forums. the nytro just like any sled, need to be set properly for your style. they are totally reliable and the motor hooks up better than most other sleds. it's a blast to ride. ride one that has been set up heck if you ride in NY come take mine out.the sub frame issue I haven't experienced yet the hand warmer issue I haven't experienced that yet.It flat out rocks! if you go to doo talk and see the issues they have. doo fans don't think I'm bashing I am buying a doo this weekend (boondocker). the nytro is an aggressive riding sled that requires a lot of rider input. but, I'ts fun! if all you do is go on long trail rides on groomed trails go for the apex. but where you ride the trails get beat up that is where the nytro shines. you'll be drunk at the bar before they get there. I like the sled...........................B

I have both a Doo XP and 08 Nytro. I was in the same boat as you and questioned my self if I should even get a Nytro considering the subframe issues. But I did buy a new one and so far love the sled. If your not going to use studs take the tunnel protectors off and a large part of the ice will go away. I just got my sled last week and so far have 216 miles on it. I wacked a rock pretty hard with the ski last Sat night and everything is still straight and like new.

Same boat as you,The hand warmers work for me. If I keep on the throttle they get warm not hot but warm enough. No bent sub frame and my left foot is never wet. I LOVE THIS SLED!Billock12345 said:I would not be scared of the whining on some of these forums. the nytro just like any sled, need to be set properly for your style. they are totally reliable and the motor hooks up better than most other sleds. it's a blast to ride. ride one that has been set up heck if you ride in NY come take mine out.the sub frame issue I haven't experienced yet the hand warmer issue I haven't experienced that yet.It flat out rocks! if you go to doo talk and see the issues they have. doo fans don't think I'm bashing I am buying a doo this weekend (boondocker). the nytro is an aggressive riding sled that requires a lot of rider input. but, I'ts fun! if all you do is go on long trail rides on groomed trails go for the apex. but where you ride the trails get beat up that is where the nytro shines. you'll be drunk at the bar before they get there. So far thats good to hear. I do all types of riding and yes I also do lots of 7 day trips up north on high speed trails where the Apex does shine, but then i can cross country race with an Apex.
I thought I read somewhere that there is a kit for the Phazer that will stop the ice Build up? Do you think there is someone who can make this kit for the Nytro. I will alway stud because of the Safety factor so the tunnel protectors will stay in.
The handwarmers seem like an easy fix.
Is there a high windshield for the Nytro. It would be nive to put it on for some 7 day -30 days in Quebec or Northern Ontario?

Buy the dumbo ears and you will be set for the cold. Just rode in -28 degrees F. with no problems. I have 3200 miles on my 08 RTX only issue was the ball joints and that was all taken care of. The fun level of this sled is unbelievable on trail and off trail. You won't believe the torque of this sled and I'm coming off a Apex RTX. Just my opinion. Schmidt Bros Motorsports has a block of plate that is suppose to block off the ice build up.

Yes there is a low, med and tall winshield as well as side sheilds that attach to the med and tall. Check it out at yamaha-motor.ca and go to nytro and accessories , windshields

I've ridden with enough REV's and Cats that have been bent as well, it's all a matter of what you hit and how you hit it. The sleds these days can do thing never thought of even 8 - 10 years ago, so its only fitting they are gonna get beat! Most of the posts I've heard of (including my sleds) have had bent front ends and it hasn't effected how they rode. I just hooked them to something and pulled them back, and all is well. I jump alot and sometimes have a few hard landings, and not always very flat. I can't blame Yamaha one bit, flat out my own fault.
