Asking for an explanation here,
A couple months ago I had raced a viper xtx with my nytro xtx 1.25. I pulled on it hard of the line and there after. Then we lined the viper up with a nytro 1.75 which really smoked the viper. I'm not trying to start a war here but I assume that a modded nytro would also win vs. a modded viper assuming mods were somewhat equal, example - exhaust/exhaust, intake.....
The advantage that I can see to the viper is weight, however, it also has a restrictive exhaust compared to the nytro.
All three sleds mentioned above were stock.
So now some guys are figuring out how to make the viper clutch be what it should be. The result are claims of the viper beating the nytro. If this is true, you would think that modding the clutch on the nytro would even the game once again. Right?

from what I have read and understand is that the Viper's clutching is massively inefficient in stock form and really holds the sleds back. The nytro's clutching however is pretty good stock, so gains from altering it aren't as big.

My 13 Nytro XTX easily smokes my friend's 14 Viper everywhere but we are working on the Viper with all the great tips from this forum. We will not stop until they are at least even!! We have already made some good gains with the DN belt. Next we are going to make the chassis roll a little more free then into the primary and secondary clutch!!

There is a post on Snowest that someone has figured out the clutching on the Viper and kills the Nytro.

2013 Nytro FX trail riding....
Studded and setup but all stock.
My buddies 2014 Viper RTX all stock and he has been clutching and other tweaks all season...and he is a very savvy tuner.
Stock vs stock the Nytro easily takes several sled lengths on the Viper and then creeps away further till the very top end where the Viper will creep on it especially after duponts and breakin.
After him trying various clutching approaches I can still roll on or drag race take him but he will creep by up top although we see the same end mph of ~105 on the speedo.
It would seem it is the exhaust and poss ecu that is holding the Viper back a bit.
The Viper chassis and handling, ride etc is another planet better tho...
