- 2009 Yamaha FX NYTRO XTX 1.75
I know this has probably been covered, I have searched and read lots, but I would like to hear from anyone that has moved from their nytro preferably XTX to an Apex XTX. I love the feel of the nytro but keep wanting more power, don't we all! I have a 2008 Vector so I know the sit down feeling and trade off I'll be making coming off my Nytro.
I do a mix of trail/off trail riding, with a fair amount of rough trail, would the apex xtx handle the rough stuff as well as my nytro? I have been tossing around the idea for 2 seasons now about a turbo,(180-200 hp kit);now I think I would be better off with an apex and leave it stock for reliability.
Just looking for honest opinions of the Apex XTX.
Thanks

If you ask me, Yamaha is really missing an opportunity with the Nytro market by not offering the Apex Motor in that sled. I realize its likely an issue with Clearances in the chasis, but they have to be able to address that. I Was looking at the new Nytro XTX 1.75" and thinking now if that only had the Apex powerplant, man would that be an amazing Stock sled.....
Anyways I have now Exp with the Nyrto, but I am interested to hear others opinions on the subject.

Snow Goer Mag. just had a good artical about these 2 sleds... Their take was the Apex XTX was for the trails and the Nytro XTX is for off trail. I have only ridden my new Nytro XTX 1.75 across my yard, but I belive it has a lot more low end torque than my 06 Attak. Hope I can ride this weekend to really feel it out.

Don't get the Apex stuck...it is frickin heavy...I found out yesterday!
Can't comment on the XTX sleds, but I can comment on the riding positions of the Nytro versus the Apex. You will not be able to stand as easily on the Apex as the seat is lower, however you do have more leg room if you want to sit in a more traditional fashion. I'd recommend a 4" handlebar riser (I have a 2" one) for better stand up Riding.
Why not just wait and see what Yamaha comes out next year?

Instead of switching sleds, why not just add some more power with a full hindle exhaust, airbox mod and fuel programmer? Should add about 15hp I think.
push turbo!!!

I have been thinking about the push turbo too!
Basically I would be in the same amount of money either way I go, just don't now if I should turbo my nytro or go with an Apex XTX

I've got both and they are two different animals, If I had to pick one, go Nytro but with boost! For almost all trail riding go Apex. If you put wide ski's on the Apex it will help it float off-trail quite a bit. If you have a nytro with boost, you don't need wide ski's, since they are up in the air most of the time.

since you have owned both basic models, the logical thing is to get the power in the model that fits your ridding style best. Sounds like the Nytro w/ some added power fits you best (plus you know your sleds condition). Ulmer sells a mid turbo or Super Charger and Yamaha sells the rear turbo for the Nytro and Ulmer can set you up with the clutching too. I went from Attak to Nytro XTX w/ Turbo back to new Apex XTX because the nytro did not fit my ridding style (old fart). The power was more on the Nytro w/ turbo.

I'm not sure yet. Sold my nytro Xtx and got a 128" 2011 Apex. Right now I'm missing my Nytro, but I was only lake riding.
