For what it's worth, I've been using SuperTech filters for years based on the following: http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Filter ... OilFilters
I use the ST6607 on my Phazers.

Wix #51365.
Don't know the Napa number, sorry.

Great. By the way, that sounds like the same number my Attak uses. I didn't think they used the same filter.
Thanks.

Nope, the Phazer filter is different than the Apex 998 motor. The four holer uses a 51358. Phazer = 51365. One thing you'll notice about the Phazer filter is the size, it's about half of the height of the Apex's. That and it's actually harder to get to. So don't be in a hurry when it comes time to change the oil and filter.

Correct me if I am wrong. Got this sometime last season from this site.
K & N 147 filter fits the phazer. Has a nut on the end for easier installation and removal, however may cost a little more than the napa/wix brands.
Certainly not as costly as the genuine Yamaha filter.

You are correct, K&N lists that filter as a direct replacement for the Yamaha 5DM-13440-00-00 specified for the Phazer.OST said:Correct me if I am wrong. Got this sometime last season from this site.

Are you sure the Wix number is 51365? This filter is quite a bit taller than the standard Yami filter. I can easily get the Yamaha filter in and out from its filter housing; the Wix will not go in unless the motor mount bolt is removed.

That's the number that Amsoil has for the Phazer. I haven't used the Wix yet, so I suppose it could be a miss print. If the filter doesn't fit I would call Wix/Amsoil and see what's what.

I just got off the phone with my local auto parts dealer. The 1358 wix filter is a direct cross reference to the stock Phazer Yamaha oil filter. It looks as if those two numbers above; the four cylinder and 2 cylinder wix numbers are switched.

I just got the 1538 filter. It too looks quite a bit bigger than the stock filter. As long as the threads are correct and no steering parts bind against it, it's going on the sled one way or another.
