Does anyone make a better replacement or an oil lite bushing for the rear suspension?
Thanks...
Thanks...
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, But here's what I know about bushings.
Hard on hard, soft on hard but not hard on soft, The first being the bushing. If you run a Bronze bushing on a Aluminum shaft it will wear the shaft. Now that being said is only on the pivots with a aluminum shaft. For example the front pivot on the RTX tunnel mounting bolt is a short steel shaft that would work with a bronze bushing. But for sure the rear upper cross shaft on a RTX is aluminum and I would assume most of the lowers. This is why you almost never see bronze in a skid because it would weigh too much to use steel cross shafts.
Take it for what it's worth, I'm no engineer...

1800miles on my machine, and both alum shafts for mounting the rear (front) are worn...new stock parts are as follows:
YAMAHA SHAFT (2 req.) 8GL-47465-00-00
YAMAHA BUSH,SOLID (4 req.) 90381-18068-00
Total: $73.08 Ouch...

Damn, I was trying to remember if those short shafts were aluminum or steel. Bummer they are aluminum. but those would be easy to replace with not much weight gain to go to a steel shaft and bronze bushings. But as far as I know, There is nobody that makes a kit.

I made my own oilite bushings and used stainless pins for the front arm. After 2 seasons or 5000 miles the stainless pins actually wore out. This year I made new bushings again and new hardened pins. With no snow to ride
I might not know if this set up works better.

Actually you got me tinking about the aluminum, so I checked them this morning...They are steel (or at least magnetic) just like the A-arm sleeves with plastic busching pressed in. My guess is that oil lites would work here too.

I have 4000 miles and mine are a tight as can be , could you switch to the XTX skid style pivots? what size is the ID of the upper crossshaft in the pivot arm? Doesn't look to be to easy to change them by the microfiche.

I believe the tolerance is to tight meaning the bushings would be very thin and brittle. I asked the same question a couple years ago and got the answer from the distributer.

Just going off of this theory, the front end of my MTX has aluminum shafts for the a-arms. I can't remember if my 08 had steel or aluminum shafts in the arms. I did install oil lights on my 08 but yet to do it on the 10. Can anyone say if all the nytro front ends have aluminum shafts 08- present?
