This Winter, a couple of us TYers will be doing Old Forge, NY for the first time in many years. Does anyone know of a good bed & breakfast in the area with direct trail access? I've stayed at the Country Club and Forge motels, but thought a B&B might add something to the trip.
If you decide on just a motel on the trail Christys Motel is where we stay every year, on trail, and right across from a 24 gas station/store. Always been good enough for us to crash in for the night and waffle house right down the street

I've stayed @ The Woods Inn a few times- like it better than in town. Like $6 for an all you can eat buffet breakfast- can't beat that (people ride in just to eat/ drink there)....
Basic rustic private rooms with a bathroom but the whole place has a cool feeling like a big Bed & Breakfast in someone's home. The owners are great folks.
Nice sized bar down "cellar" (lower level) and real good atmoshere away from the Old Forge tourism hussle & bussle.
Located right on 4th lake, not far from OF (easy to get to) or go exploring off the lake to alot of trails still near the system (Inlet).
