The OFSC annouced today that the February Family Day weekend will feature the TRY OUR TRAILS Campaign. Essentially it is a free 3 day Trail Permit valid for the entire province.

Here is the Press Release: http://gallery.mailchimp.com/83896085c9 ... an2013.pdf

This is the FAQ that accompanied the release: http://gallery.mailchimp.com/83896085c9 ... ClubsF.pdf

Important notes: 1) Any sled still requires valid registration and insurance from its home jurisdiction. 2) The free permit must be printed and dsiplayed on the sled.

Sounds like pertect timing for the Ontario TY ride...

Won't be riding there anytime soon. Right back to square one with them.

Wanna go to QC?

Thinking of headin there or Pembroke area in the next few weeks.

That's a definite good possibility John, just let me know the details when you get things figured out. ;)!

I have mixed feelings about the free permit weekend. It will be great if it gets new people into the sport but personally I only know one person that is using it. He did not buy a season pass this year because of the poor weather last year, and he was planning to buy a weekend permit for that same period and ride only once this year but now it is free so the OFSC loses $100. Hope he is the exception and not the norm.

Do you think this is open to US residents as well? I started the "create an account" section, but didn't get that far to see that it was limited.

I see nothing about Ontario residents only and they are trying to attract new riders so I think you would qualify but there is an e-mail address for questions.

contactus@ofsc.on.ca

I will probably be in pembroke this weekend. I can let you guys know how the trails are.

The OFSC confirmed to our District Office (District 1) that the free weekend is open to everyone.

Does Quebec have a weekend like this?
