How does each dealer set parts pricing?
Do they choose from a schedule that Yamaha offers of several tiers, or does yamaha set it for them based on price, or does each dealer set it entirely themselves?
Reason I ask is because the dealer where I ride shows "list price" and "our price" on their parts. When I buy at the dealer closest to where I live I pay a price that is several percentage points higher than the "list" and "our" price at the other place.

Dealers set their selling prices themselves.
Some go with "list price" from Yamaha
Larger ones give a discount. [some as high as 30%]
Most give a discount but smaller than 30%.
Some smaller dealers charge more than list price.
Some give their sled buying customers a larger discount than someone off the street.
My Dealer used to charge List price + but now discounts an average of the Tax which is 13% here. [ie we pay list price , taxes in]
On non Yamaha parts such as Studs etc their prices are better even than Royal Distributing. I'm pleased with my Dealer. The principals are young and learning but they are trying hard.

If you can wait to have it shipped it is hard to beat Port Yamaha on parts pricing.
