im looking fora CDI for my moto 4. the dealer wants 400$ for it, so thats not happening. anyone here know anywhere to get parts for a decent price? the bike wont start as soon as it gets close to freezing outside so i was told to replace the CDI.

Check out Craigs List and E Bay. Hopefully you will find one there. Another possibility is a bike/quad wrecking yard if any are in your area.

there is a guy from newzeland on ebay that makes them for the xt250's. we put one on an xt350 from a xt200 and the bike runs great. check for similar cc trikes and motor cycles as they are usually the same other than the connector.

yeah many similar model quads use the same one too. have you guys ever heard of a quad not starting when its cold due to CDI? it'll start perfect and work perfect until it gets close to freezing, then it has no spark at all.

will the quad start and run if it has been in aheated garage/shed?

i would almost bet on a cdi or a damaged wire that the break gap gets too far away when it gets cold out. seen that before.

yup a couple months ago i dropped it off at a guys house so he could weld a muffler on it. i went to bring it home but it wouldn't start. he put a heater next to it and sure enough it started after about an hour. i have the CDI off it right now and the quad is in a unheated shed so im going to try to start it with the CDI warm tomorrow. that should tell me if it is the CDI or not. thanks a lot!

there is a constant ticking in it. i assume it is the timing chain, does anyone have the slightest clue how to adjust it? or (in case i have too) how hard it is to replace?

usually timing chain is not adjustable. have the valves been set recently?

well my dad has adjusted it before apparently. and no valves have not been set/shimmed. good news is i had the CDI off but since i couldn't find a cheap replacement i put it back on and now it works perfect!

lol i never stopped riding, got a polaris too. yeah i think it was a little corrosion or something.

lol im back with another problem... went to turn on my lights last night, and the headlights wouldnt come on, but the tailight did work. i checked the connections where they plug in and they were secure.

open the switch up and check for corrosion on the switches. had this happen on old enduro's. could also be the ground at the headlamps.

i dont know what it was, went out and tried them today and they worked perfect. i think this thing just likes messin with me.
