Everyone always assumes the guy with the most HP will win in a drag race. They are nothing short of WRONG. There are many things that go into having a fast/quick sled.
1. Clutching
2. Chassis setup
3. Gearing
4. Traction
5. knowing what conditions are favorable to your Machine and which are not.
Being a former SRX owner I know that traction with the crappy proaction suspention was a huge problem. I had big problems competing with sleds that just flat out cmae out of the whole better so I tried to do a lot of roll on racing.
Being a RX-1 owner I have found that deeper loose snow really hurts the RX-1. I beleive it's due to the weight and the attach angle. You can run agianst X sled in this condition and loose and then race him on a hard packed road or the ice and flat out destroy him.
You can have a sled that makes 250hp but if you don't take the time to dial in all of the above aspects you will lose to sleds that are dialed in better with less HP. So don't assume HP and Torque will always win out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is so true.
My Exciter will destroy any stock RX1-121 in 1/8 with any snow conditions from bare to shredded (in powder it's a dog). No *heavy* internal mods, and stock exhaust. It stands up on the back of its track and pulls like a
, but it won't break 100 (radar 96 in 1/2).

Hole shot is the key. When we first had them with the 03 nipple track, how many people can actually say that they got that POS to hookup, thus losing to a lot of sleds.

That track is amazing, *WHEN* it is applied to the right sled! (ie Exciter  )

I was thinking more on the lines of the neighbors bravo

Never seen a bravo 121. WAY too much track for that small of a sled anyways.
there is one more thing I'd like to point out here. THere is an Efficiency Problem with teh current drive line. The Belt, Primary, secondary, jackshaft, gears, chain, and drivers will become less and less Efficient as HP Increases!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only that, but friction increases geometrically with power, which is why even with a perfectly efficient driveline, a 50 hp sled will go more than half as fast as a 100, which will go more than half as fast as a 200.

going fast?
what about the weight of the rider? 165 vs 200Lbs? on indentical sleds or equivalent mods to both?

It is friction that restricts speed, not mass. Change of mass will make it take *longer* to reach speed, but doesn't affect the friction. Thats why power:weight ratio doesn't dictate how fast a sled will go, and its why RX1 can beat sleds that have better power:weight ratios in compatible conditions.
Take my Exciter for example... Taking the chopped weight into account, it has a power:weight ratio somewhat better than RX1, it gets to its speed WAY faster, but once there, it'll get passed like its standing still.

tips
just take the side clerance on the primary clutch down to about 10-20 thousants and that helps a lot on the hole shot no more getting left at the lites this gets rid of alot of track spin and pull wow even my buds with machz,s whonderd what happend.
as far as running in snow goes i found that 10 tooth drivers took care of the rev,s 800 ho,s there as well as the f7 in two feet of snow i could play with them. and talk about a happy meter at 120 kph on my corrected speedo witch is right on with the radar with 10 tooth drivers the revs were at 160kph

Mass definitely affects acceleration. It's affect on top speed is minimal, it's affect on acceleration is measurable and significant.

In case you missed it, thats EXACTLY what I said.
