Looks like my shocks are due for another rebuild on my 05 rx1. My spring may also be bad. It is setting about 3-4" lower than a friends 05 RX 1 and it rides like a lumber wagon.
I spoke with Hygear the other day and he is suggesting the dual rate springs. Sounds good but expensive. If I did go with that I would only put the rear spring on right now.
I know Pioneer uses the big boy spring. I am wondering what you guys have experienced.

I can only speak for HyGear, on my '13 Apex XTX, it was an expensive upgrade w/ the dual rates and revalve plus a reservoir added to my front skid shock, but well worth it. Took out the stiffness of the skid and just made the sled that much more enjoyable.

Downside to going with Hygear is they are extremely expensive. Pioneer would be my choice.

I have had both setup's on my 06 Apex Gt. I had Pioneers setup first which was a major improvement over stock. The reason I went to the Hygear setup is because I did not feel that the shock as setup from Pioneer offered as wide a range of dampening as I wanted. When setup for good trail performance, it was too soft on the bigger bumps. And when dialed up for the bigger bumps it was too firm for normal trail use. In all fairness to the Pioneer setup, Bruce told me he would revalve the shock again at no extra cost. Plus his setup was less expensive for me since I had already installed a stiffer spring before his revalve.
After doing my homework and reading other members opinions who had tried the Hygear setup, I decided to try them next. I feel the shock is now working much better for me and the type of riding I do. Still not as good as the suspension on some other machines I have ridden but still WAY better than stock. Yes the Hygear setup is pricey but ya get what ya pay for.
Either way, both companies setups are way better than the oem settings. If your on a budget go with Pioneer. If ya want to spend more go with Hygear.

I recently replaced my 05 Vector tortion springs as I noticed quite bit of sag and it bottomed out quite regularly. The OEM springs lifted up the rear quite a bit and now I don't have to look through the windshield. Big difference. I wasn't aware of the Pioneer or Hygear units and would have looked into them..

I have used both.
While pioneer is definitely cheaper.
I have had better luck with hygear.
Just my personal opinion

If i remember right...Bruce at pioneer gets around $60 per shock for revalve. i believe hygears revalve was a bit more. the dual rate spring is where you will dish out the additional loot. I've done both (pioneer and then hygear) and although the revalve will be very similar (if set up to your weight and riding style) imo the difference comes down to the dual rate spring that hygear has to offer. Hygears dual rate and triple rate springs work very well.
