I am wanting a sled with power steering due to having 3 surgeries to my right elbow. I still have my 04 RX1 turbo that I built up back in 04. I want to try a Sidewinder but no power steering so hoping a used apex turbo with power steering comes my way. Does anyone have any feedback on how well it works ?

Are you asking solely how well the eps works? Or how well it works on a specific sled?

How it works in deep snow. It's only available on the Apex as far as I know.

How deep of snow are you riding in? What type of apex are you looking at? What type of powder, light and fluffy or wet and swampy.

Anywhere from hard packed to rutted up 2feet of fresh powder wet or dry.

I should have posted in mountain apex section, I ride in the mountains. I would like a sidewinder mtx 163 but no power steering. I personally love the 4 cylinder in the apex. If I could have a power steering apex turbo powered viper/sidewinder , then I would be set...I think.

Hard packed it works great. In the powder I don't notice as much because I've got the throttle pinned half the time and it's my understanding that the eps kicks completely off after 30 mph or something like that. Honestly in the powder I just throw the sled a little bit. I used to throw my sled a lot but those were before the 600 lb monsters we ride now.

Yes when I ride my rx1 in deep powder I love it till I have to let off the throttle to get around something. I actually bought a summit in 2013 and loved it but miss the power . I love the 4 strokes with turbos for what I do but my elbow won't handle one with out power steering.

You'll have the same nose dive problem when you let off the throttle with power steering.

I never questioned the nose dive issue. I want power steering. I have rode a Grizzly with it and its amazing.

The problem in powder though is the nose diving. If your skis are a ft under powder power steering isn't going to help. Like I said I love my eps on the trail, out in the powder I don't think it makes any difference

Hey how bout a 2016 vector XTX with an added turbo. One of my buddies has a pretty bad shoulder problem and he has an apex with the power steering and he loves it. that's not a Powder comparison but there's no way he would be able to ride with us if he didn't have power steering. While not speaking from personal experience I don't think there's any question that the power steering is going to decrease some of the stress on your arms and shoulders.

I had shoulder surgery almost 15 years ago. The eps definitely helps on 200 mile rides. I'm looking at buying a sidewinder this year as well but without power steering I'm not sure how it would cut down on my long rides.
