theres a few posts on this, the search on this website is a bit hard to use so i go to google and type "ty4stroke.com" followed by whatever i want to search. its alot quicker. but to quiet down your clutch you will need to buy some small o-rings, just a tad smaller then the bolt so its a tight fit. this will help keep the o-rings in place. your going to have to put the o-rings on the bolt of the roller's. take off the nut and push the bolt out with a screwdriver. do this so the roller and washers dont fall out, getting the washers and roller back inplace is kind of tricky. put a o-ring on the bolt and slide it down to the head, push the screwdriver back out of the clutch with the bolt(may take some wiggling to get the washers started onto the bolt) then once the bolt is thru put another o-ring on and then the nut. dont go crazy when torquing these nuts, just hand tight.

I tried the o-ring idea with no luck. I was checking my clutch the other night and I couldn't believe how much my weights move from side to side. It's as if the sleeve is worn out and as she spins it creates the rattle. The rollers are fine.. No loose in them. I'd have to add another thin washer to tighten up the weights but I have new ones coming. I'd check the weights first IMO.

My clutch Rattles too at idle. I have checked and tried the following:
1. I tried the O-ring trick on the bolt holding the rollers in. No luck. Rattle was no better.
2. Removed the bolt and the roller all together. Rattle was still there.
3. Removed the entire weight arm assemblies. Rattle was still there.
So with my process of elimination, it must the the dampening o-rings between the spider and the clutch. My sled has 5000km on it, and I will be pulling the clutch apart soon to replace them. I may replace the nylon/plastic guides too.
My dad was saying that 90% of the time, its the o-rings in the spider that wear out and cause the rattle.

I wonder if they have changed something on the 2012 models? I have a brand new XTX-12 in my garage, and there is no clutch rattle at all. As i recall my 08-RTX had some rattle when it was new.

Part #13 is a part Yamaha added to quiet down the clutch. It's on all the newer sleds, beginning in '06 . Its just an o-ring and it goes in a groove on the updated slider. That's why a new sled is quieter. The problem is it quickly compresses and the affect is lost, then comes the rattle. The other problem is you have to remove the spider, which if you've never done, is a pup. So I live with it.
