Hello again guys. I am looking to update the rear skid of my 03 shorty. Totally stock right now. I'll be keeping the sled for years, so I want to do something permanent and worthy. I am looking for something for rough trail and cruising capability. I'm thinking my options are: go to the ZR skid, MaXXPerf shocks on the stock skid, or the M10. What's my best bang for the buck? What options am I neglecting? The ZR skid sounds appealing, but how much chopping, drilling, shimming, etc am I looking at? I doubt its a direct bolt in change, right? Also, does anyone have a pic of there shorty with the Boss Wide Top seat on it. I want to go the taller seat, raised bars while I'm at it, but the BOSS seat looks butt ugly on their site. Thanks for all the help guys (and girls?). :D

Whatever you do chuck the stock skid as far as you can(while still getting a couple hundred for it) and put something else in period do not waste any time or money on it it is a heavy POS.

I put a 05 mono in my 03 and I think besides the ripsaw that was the biggest improvement possible. But if I could start over I would try the cat skid and put the $ into nitrous! I dont beleive there is any shimming for the cat skid. For sure the original was horrible all around. I have had a couple surprise jumps with very bad launces and about the same time I am bracing for the worst I land in a pile of PILLOWS. Not to mention the transfer will get you out of the hole and gone while a stock shorty would be still be playing sit and spin. My 02cents

I agree with the sit and spin of a stock shorty suspension. I have edge suspension in mine and I thought it hooked up alot better and rode alot better.
