Has anyone ever heard of removing the idler wheels to help make the hyfax last longer. A buddy of mine talked to a yammy owner that has a vector and a nytro and the first thing that he does to the sleds is remove the idler wheels. He claims he gets better life from the hyfax because it put even pressure along the whole length rather that just the area where the wheels are. Logicaly it sounds like it would make sence but I don't know if I would be doing that. He claims he's never had a problem doing it.
Well in high snow areas and racing purposes, yes you get more even wear and less rolling resistance. But in marginal conditions your gonna stick and burn slides. Also think about fully clipped, every window open vs every third open and clipped
Here out west a fairly popular mod to save weight, is to pull the idler wheels. Then install Hyperfax or Dupont hyfax and then run ice scratchers for hard pack conditions.
