Anyone replaced the stock front bumper on their Nytro? My buddy turned his tree magnent up to stun on last weekends ride, and mangled the front bumper on his 09 MTX pretty good. Only 130 miles on it. Yikes.

Any suggestions on a good aftermarket replacement are welcome, especially if you got some pics of it on your sled. Thanks!

This Timbersled bumper is the best one that I have seen so far IMO. Plus they have 20% off right now.

Any installed pics of that one? Sled Solutions

I will be putting one on my new ride, but still undecided on the Yamaha one or something else

This is the best one I have on my VL - I need to cut away part of the lip on the skid plate to improve the look a bit. There is also a pictureon Sled Solutions of it installed on a Phazer.

Hmm, after that hit I am surprised if the subframe is still straight...
Put a stronger bumper in and your subframe will for sure be bent (if trees keep jumping out in front of you, that is...).

Man my buddy did the same thing except he ran into the back of another buddy's sled thanks for the post this exactly what I was looking for.

Cheers!!

Good news is the sub frame isn't bent. I guess due to the head on way he hit the tree the bumper took the brunt of the blow. I guess subframes get tweaked on more of a side hit. So if you're gonna hit a tree, hit it head on. ha ha!

There is a slight bend in the lower "nose" of the sub-frame. A little bit of paint flaking off a few of the welds, but not much at all. When I put my hands behind the subframe and compare how close the back of the frame is to the ski arm supports, the left side is about 1/4 inch or less closer on the left side than right. Visually everything looks fine, its not until you get in there and look really hard that one can tell anything is wrong at all.

She tracks straight and I don't think there has been any damage to the front suspension at all. Ski's are lined up and don't show the one being forward over the other (as it did on my Phazer after I rolled that on concrete).

I can't get over how this is a bran new sled and that I want to keep it for a long time, so I want it perfect. But in this case you think it's fine just to leave it, and collect insurance on the big one which statistically (in my case) will happen in the next 2 years.

Should I nit pick it and bring it in, or just slap on a new bumper and steering post and call it good?

Thanks for the advice, going with the Timbersled bumper I think. I have a good set of pictures of the tear down and fix that I will post up later.

The Timber Sled bumper looks good but I would be concerned that a light hit might also take out the shocks, the mounts or both.

Good point, a strike would be pushing force between the sub-frame and the top of the shock mounts. Dang.. back to not knowing what to get.

Yep, I agree! I posted that on here a while back when someone was looking at that Timbersled bumper! Do not like the way the bumper is mounted to the shock towers!! :o|
